Job Description

At Shawbrook, we’re embracing the future with generative AI, and we’re looking for a passionate AI engineer to join us on this exciting journey!

As part of the Data and Analytics team in our Commercial Division, you’ll help build cutting-edge AI solutions for real world challenges. The team has established a high performing analytics platform and is now at the forefront of the banks Gen AI capability. Our remit covers many areas, including Sales, Product, and Operations, and this role will support the creation of innovative AI solutions that unlock real business value. 

From embedding AI into our underwriting process to creating our first AI-powered assistant, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of AI at Shawbrook.

You’ll be joining at a pivotal moment as we lay the foundations for our Gen AI platform. Working in a cross functional AI product squad, you’ll get hands on with the latest tech, building AI models from scratch and driving innovative projects across the business.

Responsibilities

• Designing and deploying AI solutions on our Azure platform, focusing on utilising LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures
• Driving insight from our Azure data lake via programming languages (such as SQL, Python or R).
• Partnering with other colleagues within our Data Community to collaborate and help drive our teams advanced analytics capability.
• Promoting transparency in our work by maintaining a clear pipeline of work, defined timelines and ownership of delivery.

Qualifications

• Python- You will be using Python to develop and deploy AI models, and build internal generative AI tools from scratch, ensuring they meet business needs.
• Gen AI Experience- You will need a solid understanding of large language models (LLMs), their capabilities, and limitations to develop use cases for generative AI across the business
• Prompt Engineering- You will need to be able to craft, test, and refine prompts that guide AI tools to deliver accurate and useful outputs.
• RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), Vectorising & Chunking- You will need an understanding of how to store and process data for AI systems. You’ll implement RAG techniques by vectorising (converting data into numerical form) and chunking (splitting data into logical sections) to ensure efficient data retrieval.
• Stakeholder Management- You will need good stakeholder management and communication skills to understand business requirements and deliver intuitive solutions, you’ll be working in a front office team collaborating with business stakeholders daily
• Experience with SQL and Azure ML and AI would be beneficial.
