Position Summary
The Data Science Program at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a 3 year, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor instructional position that will begin August 10, 2025. This full-time teaching faculty appointment carries a service component commensurate with rank, and comes with the possibility of ongoing renewals and a framework for promotion.
We seek an individual with expertise in Data Science, including expertise in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence and machine learning, natural language processing, distributed database technologies (i.e., Spark, Hive), distributed computing, visualization, and big data technologies.
The successful applicant must demonstrate a strong ability to be an effective teacher and mentor and will have a 3-3 teaching load.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Sciences, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Sciences, or a related field at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2025), or ABD is preferred at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2025) Previous teaching experience is preferred. We are particularly interested in candidates who have previously created python materials which have been used in courses or labs.
