Job Description

Job Summary This Associate Actuary opportunity will play a pivotal role in enhancing and maintaining our Microsoft Excel-based model validation tools for various lines of business. These tools are crucial in our model development and governance process, and your contributions will be key in driving the modernization of our actuarial processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the evolution of our model validation tools, ensuring they stay cutting-edge and documenting all enhancements.
  • Provide expert-level support and understanding of our model validation tools, becoming a go-to technical resource for various teams.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration to refine and update Corporate AXIS models for a variety of applications, including pricing, inforce management, ALM, and valuation.
  • Play a critical role in major model development initiatives, including new product introductions, new regulatory requirements, and strategic reinsurance agreements.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of actuarial model updates and oversee model governance, ensuring strict adherence to our high standards.
  • Contribute significantly to project timelines and deliver insightful updates to senior management.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Science or other related area
  • ASA designation.
  • 2+ years of related actuarial experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of actuarial modeling software, GGY-AXIS preferred.
  • Experience within the Fixed Indexed Annuity, Registered Indexed Linked Annuity, Indexed Universal Life or Pension Risk Transfer lines of business, as well as reinsurance preferred.
  • Experience with and knowledge of reporting and modeling for Statutory Valuation, GAAP Valuation, and Asset Liability Management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities; demonstrated ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with VBA, Python, R, or other programming languages preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and technical tools, adapt rapidly and thrive in a quickly evolving and dynamic work environment.
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects with varying priorities and timelines.
  • Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group.
  • Ability to learn and utilize actuarial software systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
