Job Description

Data Management is one of the foundation topics of ‘making the difference’ to become one digital bank. The Global Chief Data Office (CDO) is aiming to take ING’s data management capabilities to the next level by further enhancing and implementing our data management strategy that stipulates how we want to govern data throughout the bank. We’re looking for someone to help coordinate and orchestrate Non-Financial Risk (NFR) activities across the CDO organisation.

The team

The CDO Office has a key role in the coordination of our global roadmap, ensuring that we deliver on our regulatory promises and the coordination of NFR for the global CDO function. Our Business Control Office (BCO) ensures that Data Management function is fully compliant with all policies within ING. We are the trusted advisors for our management team and guide the teams to provide the relevant control outcomes.

Roles and responsibilities

CDO Office is looking for an enthusiastic and result-oriented Business Control Specialist (BCO) to be part of our team. The BCO team is responsible for the coordination of all NFR activities across the CDO organisation. The team has an important coordinating role between 2LoD Risk Mgt (ORM/IRM/Compliance), our internal auditor and business lines in CDO. You are expected to be the translator between the worlds of risk- and data-management.

The BCO team is working on below responsibilities:

  • You perform Key Control Testing (KCT) from a First Line of Defence perspective for NFR framework controls applicable to CDO, cooperating with our risk colleagues
  • You monitor and support the Data Department and the local CDOs pillars in implementing/executing controls for ensuring compliance with the generic control frameworks and policies.
  • You support in testing of controls as part of ING’s Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) (SOx) twice a year.
  • You coordinate periodic Risk Control Self Assessments with stakeholders and support CDO teams
  • You inform the stakeholders on existing and upcoming risks and advice Risk Owners on mitigation measures and remediation.
  • You document, monitor and report on identified risks and issues in iRisk. Support business for risk acceptance or waiver when required. Making sure all issues are mitigated in time.
  • You support in the creation and design of In Control Statements for services that CDO is provider
  • You participate audits to support CDO team and make a bridge between auditor and CDO
  • You support in preparing of the monthly Risk Thematic meetings where you inform the team leads and share generic issues found.

  • At least 3 years of work experience on NFR. Data Management experience is a plus
  • You are a trusted advisor, who brings NFR under control by supporting CDO
  • The ability to present complex content in a clear and transparent way
  • Strong work ethic combined with a structured and disciplined approach, resulting in ‘getting things done’
  • Result-driven and able to push things forward in a persistent and constructive manner
  • Able to manage different stakeholders and navigate different cultural environments
  • Pro-active, eager to learn and pick-up NFR topics / ad hoc requests
