About this role

The Source to Pay Operations team is a dynamic and integral part of our organization, dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our procurement and expense management processes. Our team covers the entire spectrum of Source to Contract, Procure to Pay, and Travel and Expense operations.

Within this team, the Reporting and Analytics division plays a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making. We design, develop, present, and support advanced reporting and data analysis solutions that provide critical insights into our operations. By leveraging cutting-edge analytics, we help optimize procurement strategies, streamline payment processes, and manage corporate travel expenses more effectively. Our goal is to empower the organization with actionable intelligence that supports strategic initiatives and operational excellence.

What you’ll do

  • Utilize an advanced understanding of multiple data structures, data sources, and tools to guide business partners in the development of self-service analytics, which may include data visualization, business intelligence, or data collection.

  • Lead live virtual training sessions for other Gartner associates.

  • Engage in cross-team collaboration with multiple business units, and with individuals with varying levels of analytical experience within those business units.

  • Collaborate with business users to help develop reports, while mentoring to drive self-service moving forward.

  • Help our business users learn to self-serve for their analytics and reporting needs, primarily leveraging Power BI.

  • Ensure proper BI standards, policies and procedures are followed.

  • Create usage reports and monitor usage for self-service analytics platforms and resources.

  • Research and validate data models leveraged by self-service users.

  • Deliver all assignment work within quality standards and on time, often within tight deadlines.

  • Collaborate with team to update existing training content and/or create new training content.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and help develop reports, while mentoring to drive self-service moving forward.

  • Research and validate data models leveraged by self-service users.

  • Collaborate on special projects on an as needed basis.

  • Collaborate with team to update existing training content and/or create new training content.

  • Gartner Finance+ teams, IT, Financial Systems Support, expense program users, corporate cardholders.

  • Collaborates with immediate team members on assigned tasks.

  • Seeks guidance from seniors or supervisors within the department.

  • Communicates updates and progress to direct supervisors.

  • Builds rapport with internal team members to facilitate teamwork.

  • May interact occasionally with external vendors or clients under supervision.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, finance, statistics or business Administration, or similar field

  • May benefit from vocational training or relevant certifications.

  • Possessing industry-specific certifications can be advantageous.

Professional Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience with data analysis, metrics development and financial reporting within the scope of Procure-to-Pay, Travel & Expense or a similar area of finance.

  • Experience presenting analysis/data insights.

  • Experience using data analysis and visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau

  • Experience in troubleshooting and data testing would be preferred.

  • Basic knowledge or familiarity with internal audit, finance or similar business functions concepts and practices would be an advantage

  • Requires on-the-job training and supervision to develop expertise.

Technical/Professional Skills & Competencies

  • Proven ability to analyze and understand large datasets

  • Proficient in a variety of data analysis tools, such as SQL, Microsoft Power BI, SAS, Microsoft Excel and Access

  • Strong Microsoft office skills, including MS Visio (for process design/architecture)

  • Proficiency in using Collaboration tools like Shared Google Drives & MS SharePoint is a must.

  • Holding analytics certifications from Coupa (Spend Management Platform) and SAP Concur would be an added advantage.

  • Ability to conduct technical analysis to identify patterns and trends in data.

  • Ability to interpret and explain complex data

  • Ability to develop and maintain BI systems

  • Understanding of business processes and objective

  • Develops foundational familiarity with knowledge areas, practices, and technology.

  • Demonstrates essential technical skills aligned with the role’s requirements.

  • Adapts to new technical tools and methodologies effectively.

  • Assists team in implementing technical solutions under supervision.

  • Contributes to technical discussions and problem-solving within the team.

  • Works on assigned technical tasks, seeking guidance when necessary.

  • Experience using Microsoft and Google suite of office tools. Ability to learn new tools quickly.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and take direction.

  • Good oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate with a diverse audience at various levels while considering cultural differences.

  • Excellent customer service and listening skills.

  • Initiative and willingness to take on projects.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment while meeting tight deadlines.
