As Data Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing incoming client data from the ingest phase to insights analysis. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, troubleshooting data issues that arise across functions, improving data quality and advising on business strategy.  Data Managers provide the bridge between business and technical functions and must be able to translate the needs and work of one to the other. 

                                                          

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Lead client meetings pertaining to data discovery, ingestion, processing, and troubleshooting. 
  • Create data instructions for segmentation selection and package assignment for campaigns, including instructions for identifying creative variables with the applicable data fields.
  • Own the client data instructions and specifications needed to deliver the solution for the client. 
  • Troubleshoot and manage changes to data processing, evaluate quality reporting, and maintain high standard of data product creation, including campaign operations QC review. 
  • Identify and escalate potential risks for data processing, time to value, quality, and strategic use. Manage change impact. 
  • Build relationships with business and functional groups to drive data literacy and ensure all functions have the data needed to be successful.
  • Understand client data systems, use, and data flow and drive the strategic improvement of the data at rest in the client environment.
  • Understand internal data flows and systems; own improvement of data catalog metadata collection and data discoverability for assigned clients.   
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis queries.
  • Design reports (metrics, operational, quality, etc.) for internal consumption.
  • Works daily with our delivery team partners to gain functionality to harvest technical metadata.
  • Works daily with our stakeholders to onboard and train on data governance platforms and concepts.

 

EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • 4+ years hands-on experience in troubleshooting data problems in a professional setting.
  • 4+ years working with Business stakeholders to understand and represent business needs in requirements and on-boarding to data governance platforms. Prior Data Governance experience is a plus.

 

Experience required:

  • Experience establishing and documenting data source-to-target mapping and transformations for one or more clients.
  • Experience with database systems and management, including data collection, data visualization, report generation, data cleaning, mapping, and manipulation.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and metadata capture.
  • Ability to write ad hoc SQL select statements.
  • Ability to lead client meetings documenting decisions and issues.
  • Ability to foresee data impact on business strategy and regulate business requirements to facilitate best practice data management principles.
  • Ability to translate business data governance requirements into technical requirements to meet multiple business needs. 

 

The successful candidate will have strong analytical, creative problem solving, and process management skills. They will have the ability to plan and prioritize their own work effectively to achieve set end results. They must have excellent attention to detail along with strong oral, written communication & presentation skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team with a positive attitude for team goals. They will accept ambiguity, be open to new ideas, and willing to test and fail while attempting new processes.

 

Position is Remote. Core working hours are generally central time zone but flexibility to adjust to accommodate Eastern or Pacific is needed on occasion.  Minimal travel to in-person workshops or client data onboarding sessions may be required.  

Pay Range expected for the position: $70,000 – $80,000 annually.
