Position Overview

The Client Data Specialist or Senior Client Data Specialist plays an important role within the Client Data Management (CDM) team and contributes to maximizing company revenue through generation, management, and delivery of study data assets to high-value BioPharma studies using Adaptive immunosequencing products. The position is responsible for ensuring the data generated is of the highest quality while meeting internal and external deadlines, and supports ongoing projects by working closely with customers to perform data reconciliations and keeping documentation and data delivery methods up to date. This position requires programming skills in R and/or Python to generate deliverables, the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish data-related study requirements, impeccable attention to detail, great communication skills, and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities in a rapidly changing situation.

The Senior Client Data Specialist will additionally be responsible for developing software tools and designing processes, designing and negotiating data transfer agreements, and defining custom database specifications and delivery solutions. In addition to R & Python, the Senior position requires bash and SQL experience.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

The Client Data Specialist, under supervision of the Director of Client Data Management:

  • Designs, validates and executes software code to generate study-specific customer data files.
  • Collects, generates, conducts quality control by validating data for completeness and accuracy and delivers study files to customers using multiple internal and external resources based on guidelines set by project stakeholders or downstream data management systems.
  • Reviews queries and implements data updates as requested for customer data reconciliation needs.
  • Works closely with internal teams such as BioPharma, Software, and External Computational Biology to meet customer data delivery expectations.
  • Contributes to the creation and updates of Data Transfer Agreements that meet customer clinical database specifications.
  • Participates in meetings with BioPharma clients, third party data managers and internal teams during study set up and implementation to support customer data needs.
  • Supports additional client needs using company-wide systems such as Sales Force, TaskRay, Tableau, data warehouse, bitbucket, JIRA, etc.
  • Formulates data management techniques that ensure quality data collection accuracy and upkeep and maintains all relevant documentation up to date to support study needs.
  • Suggests improvements to existing processes to streamline data workflows and data delivery to remove inefficiencies and enable the continuous growth of the business.
  • May be responsible for approving and/or establishing user access to data management systems.
  • May train new and existing CDM team members in applicable processes, programs and tools.
  • Performs regulatory responsibilities per Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

In addition, the Senior Client Data Specialist, under limited supervision of the Director of Client Data Management:

  • Leads the design and development of software code.
  • Manages and maintains the code repository for data analysis tools and develops new data analysis tools following conventional coding practices to accommodate CDM and BioPharma team needs.
  • Negotiates Data Transfer Agreements.
  • Manages updates and keeps documents and tracking systems up to date.
  • Represents the CDM team in meetings with BioPharma clients, etc.
  • Interfaces with data end-users and the data storage/management architecture team to ensure that systems meet business needs, including members of the Business Development, Biological Sample Management, Software and External Computational Biology teams.
  • Maintains and updates CDM documentation, including SOPs, training and guidance documents.
  • Trains new and existing CDM team members in applicable processes, programs and tools.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Other)

Required for Client Data Specialist:

  • BS/BA degree in the life sciences or equivalent with 2 yr work or relevant direct experience in life sciences research or Master’s degree.
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Well-rounded technical knowledge in the areas of Biology, Computational Biology, and Data Analysis.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (R and/or Python) and software tools (such as bash and git).
  • Performs work independently under supervision.
  • Typically reports to department head or manager.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Ability to work as part of a team effectively and efficiently in a quick turnaround environment with tight deadlines. Analytical thinking skills. Statistical knowledge. Technical expertise. Computer skills. High attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines. Organizational, interpersonal and time/project management. Understanding of technical/data management best practices.

Ideal candidates will possess

  • Knowledge of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Biostatistics
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Smartsheet, Tableau

Additionally Required for Senior Client Data Specialist:

  • BS/BA degree in the life sciences or equivalent with 5 yr work or relevant direct experience in life sciences research or Master’s degree with 3 yr work or relevant direct experience in life sciences research.
  • Mastery of scripting languages (R and/or Python, Java) and tools (such as bash and git) and knowledge of data base technologies (SQL, SAS etc.) and cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, etc).
  • Works on complex problems and considers relative value of several alternative solutions to potential issues before confirming a final decision as to the path forward.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Expert with tools and processes that support work conducted by CDM

Compensation

Client Data Specialist Salary Range: $70,700 – $106,100
Senior Client Data Specialist Salary Range: $89,100 – $133,700 

Other compensation elements include:

  • equity grant
  • bonus eligible

Adaptive’s posted compensation information includes a base salary (or hourly rate) range and summary of other available total compensation. The base salary range represents a minimum-to-maximum salary (or hourly rate) available to candidates upon extension of offer. Base salary is thoughtfully considered upon offer and is determined through multiple evaluation checks throughout the interview process, including: a candidate’s ability to meet minimum qualifications (skills/experience/education), a candidate’s ability to thoughtfully address preferred qualifications, current market conditions, and internal pay equity. Listed base salary is exclusive of bonus, commission, equity, differential pay, benefits, and other incentives.
