Salary: $31.86 – $39.83 per hour. 
Shifts: Monday to Friday 
Status: Temporary Part Time (12 months contract)

Position Summary
Muscles, bones and joints form the infrastructure supporting organs across the body, and their structural and functional integrity help maintain our daily function and quality of life. Our research program takes a multi-tissue and multi-disciplinary approach and focuses on the interactions among these tissues in the context of aging and endocrine health. We use a combination of medical imaging technologies, image segmentation tools and traditional epidemiological methods to answer research questions related to the interaction of bone, muscles and joints. One of the biggest foci of our program is on postmenopausal osteoarthritis (OA) including how musculoskeletal abnormalities surrounding the joint are related to symptoms, adjusting for sex and gender. We are also investigating how virtual vs. in-person care impacts patient health and cost outcomes with a specific aim related to musculoskeletal pain management and quality of life. Working under the direction of the PI, the research analyst will provide assistance to the study team in conducting research studies. 

Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with study participants’ administrative requirements (e.g., scheduling appointments, preparing clinic rooms, and other administrative functions)
  • Assisting in recruitment of study participants (e.g., identification/ screening, obtaining of consent, etc.)
  • Assisting in the planning, review, implementation and coordination of data collection and source documentation, as per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Collecting study data from participants or other sources in support of clinical and study-related decision-making, using pre-defined data collection tools (e.g., administering questionnaires, completing study worksheets, etc.) as per approved study protocol and authorized access
  • Performing data transcription from health records or other sources, as per approved study protocol and authorized access
  • Assisting with the analysis of medical images
  • Coordinating necessary data flow both internally, as well as externally with collaborators from other sites
  • Conducting literature searches/reviews for new proposals, as directed
  • Providing assistance for monitoring/audits and regulatory inspections
  • Providing assistance with computer statistical analyses as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in a health/science discipline or equivalent is required
  • Master’s degree in a health/science discipline or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years clinical research experience is required 
  • Experience with programming in any language (e.g., Python) or the aptitude to learn programming is required 
  • Demonstrated relevant knowledge of clinical research and of human research regulations and guidelines of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies.
  • Knowledge of research regulations and guidelines (such as ICH/GCP, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki, FDR, CFR and Health Canada TPD as required)
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Interacts with both internal and external contacts, primarily for the purposes of exchanging and/or clarifying of information and resolving problems within scope of authority
  • Excellent skills in recognizing, analyzing and resolving problems 
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to form/defend independent judgments and to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
