We seek an experienced Configuration Management Manager to lead our configuration management efforts across product development and lifecycle processes. This role is critical for ensuring all products meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in configuration management within the aerospace or defense industry, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
As the Configuration Data Manager, you will work closely with engineering, quality, program management, and supply chain teams to manage product baselines, oversee change control processes, and ensure the proper handling of technical data. You will also lead the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers to drive efficient and compliant CM/DM practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This role’s key responsibilities are:
- Develop and implement configuration management plans and processes across multiple projects.
- Establish and maintain configuration baselines throughout the product lifecycle.
- Chair the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and manage the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process.
- Perform configuration audits to verify conformance with documented requirements.
- Ensure all changes are correctly documented, reviewed, and approved in compliance with company standards and contractual obligations.
- Track and report the status of configuration items, changes, and baselines.
- Oversee the storage, retrieval, and distribution of controlled technical data, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, including ITAR and DFARS regulations.
- Manage document control systems, ensuring timely and accurate release of drawings, technical data packages (TDPs), and other relevant documentation.
- Ensure timely delivery of data deliverables to customers, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet program milestones.
- Develop and maintain processes for managing engineering data, technical documentation, and supplier data.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in CM/DM practices, ensuring alignment with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, EIA-649).
- Implement and optimize configuration and data management tools (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, etc.) to improve efficiency and traceability.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on CM/DM tools, standards, and processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams to ensure that CM/DM practices are integrated into the product development lifecycle.
- Interface with external customers and auditors, ensuring compliance with customer-specific CM/DM requirements and contractual obligations.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to configuration management and data accuracy.
- Provide regular status updates to program management, engineering leadership, and customers on CM/DM activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Years of Experience, Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in configuration management, data management, or a related field, preferably within aerospace or defense industries.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven experience with industry standards such as MIL-STD-973, EIA-649, and AS9100.
- Familiarity with CM/DM tools such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Experience leading configuration audits and chairing Configuration Control Boards (CCB).
- Strong understanding of configuration management principles, change control processes, and data management best practices.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with cross-functional teams, customers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment with tight deadlines.
- The following are desired:
- Experience with aerospace product development, manufacturing, and lifecycle processes.
- Experience working with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contracts.
- Certification in configuration management or data management (e.g., CMPIC, CMII).
- Ability to check engineering drawings against a drawing requirements standard.
- Prior experience rolling out a new CM/DM tool within a company.

Working Conditions:
This role will primarily work in an open-plan office with moderate noise levels in addition to hybrid/remote work as available.
