Data AI Engineer (m/f/x)

The Position:

Join the Advance Analytics team at Daiichi Sankyo as a Data and AI Engineer, where innovation and inspiration drive our work. In this exciting role, you’ll develop products that empower data-driven decision-making in a commercial setting.
As a Data and AI Engineer, you’ll work in cross-functional team to create solutions using data, machine learning, and AI. You find challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them. You are a cross-disciplinary team member and excited to work with Data Engineers and Data Scientists. You are comfortable communicating across teams. You are resourceful, flexible and adaptable. Finally, you’ll help bring selected products to production and scale.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy LLM-based applications and pipelines for diverse business use cases.
  • Research and implement techniques to improve LLM performance, such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Build scalable data pipelines to preprocess and feed data into AI applications efficiently.
  • Develop APIs and interfaces to integrate LLMs into existing systems or customer-facing products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Scientists, Data and ML Engineers, and product managers/owners.
  • Consult and empower wider organization to implement & reinforce a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate model performance, addressing issues like bias, drift, and reliability.
  • Stay updated on advancements in Data Engineering and Generative AI and recommend new technologies or methodologies.
  • Document processes, workflows, and technical designs for maintainability and scalability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve data-related issues and challenges. 

 

Education & Professional Experience:

  • University or Bachelor’s degree required: Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
  • Min. 3 yrs of engineering work experience.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python with ability to write efficient, modular and testable code.
  • Experience in data engineering – ETL Pipelines, Data Architecture, Database Management, etc.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and tools for AI/ML deployments.
  • Strong programming skills with Python/SQL is expected.
  • Proven experience in building generative AI applications (e.g., chatbots, summarization tools).
  • Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate).
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and NLP concepts like embeddings, tokenization, and transformers.
  • Hands-on experience with MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow).
  • Strong understanding in using Git in a multi-environment setup.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Effective communication to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • English profficiency is expected (at least C1).
