Definition of Class

Data Analyst II

This position collects and analyzes data, evaluates reliability and sustainability of assessments, produces complex reports, and recommends additional analyses as necessary. The incumbent exercises discretion and independent judgment in interpreting, presenting and communicating results of complex statistical analysis in writing, verbally, and graphically for diverse audiences.

 

Data Analyst III

This position collects and analyzes data, evaluates reliability and sustainability of assessments, produces complex reports, and recommends additional analyses as necessary. The incumbent serves as project/team leader as assigned and manages designated projects.

 

 

This position will inform decisions across Enrollment Management by analyzing and forecasting trends in enrollment and admissions that are critical to campus planning and providing support to inform strategies. The incumbent will analyze numerous sources of data to inform priorities and goals that align with the institution’s comprehensive strategic enrollment plan. The incumbent will serve on data, research, and IT-related campus and system-wide committees and serve as a strategic liaison to the Office of Institutional Research, Effectiveness, and Planning (IREP) and other similar campus partners.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Conducts complex statistical analyses, such as logistic regression, using SAS, SPSS, R, or other statistical software to analyze a wide variety of data.
  • Designs and evaluates predictive models for enrollment, student success and other student related outcomes.
  • Uses Excel, Access, and Tableau extensively to perform data transformations and other complex operations.
  • Collects, analyzes, interfaces, and interprets multiple sources of data related to student achievement.
  • Provides advisement and makes recommendations in the development of multi-year and multi-site assessment plans.
  • Establishes and maintains relational databases for institutional data, including student, faculty and staff information.
  • Responds to requests for data from multiple constituents and may act as a liaison to academic and non-academic departments.
  • Prepares, interprets, and communicates complex statistical information in writing, verbally and graphically for diverse audiences.
  • Identifies and monitors key performance indicators for student and institutional achievement.
  • Determines academic gains and applies appropriate statistical precepts to gauge effectiveness of programs.
  • Advises school leadership teams in the development of multi-year, multi-site student assessment plans.
  • Provides guidance and supervision of assignments of Data Analyst I.
  • Assists with maintenance of departmental website and ensures accuracy of data content.
  • Create various predictive models to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Work closely with Admissions and Financial Aid operations for quality control on reports. Ensure the necessary reports and reporting tools are available to key audiences to inform decisions related to undergraduate admissions, registration, scholarships, financial aid, and student service functions provided by the office.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and written analyses regarding operational activities and effectiveness.
  • Perform predictive modeling and analyses to shape and inform enrollment strategy. 
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and relevant data, reports, and presentations to guide enrollment, recruitment, and retention strategies. 
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Data Analyst II
1. Establishes, maintains and monitors relational database for collection and analysis demographics and data.
2. Prepares, interprets, and communicates complex statistical information.
3. Assists with maintenance of departmental website and ensures accuracy of data content.
4. Provides guidance and supervision of assignments of Data Analyst I

 

Data Analyst III

1. Analyzes needs and develops and completes institutional research studies.

2. Prepares, interprets, and communicates complex statistical information.

3. Provides guidance and supervision of assignments for Data Analyst I and Data Analyst II.

4. Acts as a liaison to academic and non-academic departments and advises school leadership teams in the use of data related to student achievement and institutional effectiveness.

Minimum Education/Experience

Data Analyst II

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Management and Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

AND

Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.

 

 

Data Analyst III

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Management and Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
AND
Experience:
Four (4) years of experience related to the above described duties

 

 

Preferred qualification: Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.

Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
