Job Description

Job Description

The LHC cryogenic system is a large and complex set of industrial processes that runs continuously all over the year. The operators in charge of operating and monitoring these processes must be perfectly trained on these unique systems to ensure a reliable and safe operation. Moreover, the operation team needs to be assisted by complex computing tools to identify malfunctioning equipment and not-optimized processes to prevent any potential failures or to anticipate critical maintenance activities.

You will be integrated in the cryogenics operation team to:

  • Maintain and improve the existing cryogenic process simulator that is used to train the operators safely, and assist a team of operators during their training sessions;
  • Update and extend the data analytics tools that are used to perform thermodynamic calculations & simulations (e.g. on beam induced heat load to cryogenics) or to identify potential issues on the running installations;
  • Participate in the cryogenic operation activities (in field interventions and advanced learning of cryogenic processes controls).

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

Diversity has been an integral part of CERN’s mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
