The role 

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Product Manager with a passion for data & analytics to take on a strategic and pivotal role with one of the UK leading property data and insights companies. 

You will lead the definition for an analytics platform and reporting capabilities for our valuation and property risk automation software. The analytics platform is to provide relevant, timely and insightful reporting capabilities, enabling performance review and improving understanding for our lender customers and internal product teams. They need to find, screen, query, retrieve and visualise a large amount of data in Tableau, Excel or other distribution channels to identify opportunities for optimisation through decision analysis of rulesets and policies and product enhancements

The right candidate will be a Product Manager with previous experience working with data analytics platforms or MI reporting, who is looking for strategic and commercial responsibility. They will provide leadership of a cross functional product team including Data Engineering and a Data Analyst. Once established, you will use data and analytics methods and techniques to uncover performance insights for our financial services customers using our AVM, Property Risk Hub platform and Portfolio services to drive their adoption of AVMs and Hometrack’s data products and software as well as identifying opportunities for new product development and revenue growth for Hometrack. You will appreciate and evangelise the importance of high quality data and its presentation, as an asset that is integral to product performance, business KPIs, and recommendation.

Key responsibilities

  • Research and understand user needs and define the hypothesis on the reports and capabilities lenders need to manage risk and drive adoption of automation valuations and decisions. 
  • Support the definition of, and development of, end-to-end traceability of the data journeys to elevate understanding and generate insights.
  • Develop and maintain product dashboards (Tableau) for our lender customers and internal users. 
  • Define the ongoing product roadmap for Hometrack Dashboard to deliver value for Lenders, information security and data governance. Including consideration of Data science tools.
  • Articulate the opportunity to expand Hometrack Dashboard beyond the Property Risk Hub possibly replacing and enhancing bespoke lender reporting and legacy reporting products. 
  • Leverage the data foundation established for the Hometrack Dashboard to enable internal product performance reporting (on a lender and aggregated level) for all of Hometracks products and services. 
  • Explore the opportunity for internal products that support pre-sales and client analytics to test and model the impact of rule changes on pass rates and overall mortgage decision performance and help identify commercial opportunities. If validated, build the business case to support the required investment to build out the services described.
  • Break business requirements down into features and user stories with clear acceptance criteria, working with the Software and Data Engineering to establish feasibility and approach.
  • Work with the engineering team to refine stories and estimate subtasks, set sprint goals and plan and coordinate releases.
  • Keep key stakeholders up to date, communicating short, medium and longer term roadmap as well as release planning, management and communications.

You’re a good fit if you are:

  • Experience as a Data Analyst in a data rich environment, analytics data platforms, preferably proptech, mortgage or credit risk. 
  • We’d expect you have advanced SQL skills as standard with the ability to leverage python day to day. We use Tableau to visualise our data, so any experience with a similar tool (e.g. PowerBI) is great. 
  • Familiarity with cloud services platforms, preferably AWS and  Microsoft Azure.
  • Able to clearly communicate your findings to a business audience and challenge colleagues on taking data driven decisions. You’ll do this with your natural data analytics and creative problem skills, with an ability to organise yourself and project manage pieces of work end to end.
  • A positive, collaborative mindset and a desire to deliver real business value to the customer. A keen interest in product strategy and development. 
  • Strong business acumen; a track record of delivering commercially viable products or services with a clear link to measurable company goals.
  • In your element facilitating workshops with customers for discovery and to gather and document business requirements,, resolving issues and clearing obstacles.
  • Agile software development and product discovery methodologies. You reflect the importance of continuous, iterative delivery of value, plus the tools and techniques to facilitate this. You define solutions based on a thorough, methodical and data-driven approach.
  • Team spirit and highly effective written and verbal communication skills to lead and influence a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Obsession with learning. Whether it’s driving key product KPIs, learning new skills or the nuances of the market you are always reflecting on what can be improved and how to get there
