Data Engineer
Job Description

We emphasize teamwork and focus on achieving goals to complete deliverables efficiently, on-time, and under budget.
We are currently seeking three (3) Data Engineers to join our team in Reston, Virginia.
Primary Job Duties:
· The Contractor shall coordinate with multiple entities, including mission partners, to ensure tools meet defined requirements. Position requires engineers to develop and maintain data exploitation platforms that support and enhance the data collection process
· The Contractor shall apply an agile approach to software development consistent with the Sponsor’s project management and software development frameworks with a focus on demonstrating and delivering releasable software every iteration
· The Contractor shall ensure all security vulnerabilities are addressed as appropriate by severity and maintain security accreditation, including maintaining plan of action for vulnerability remediation.
· The Contractor shall design data pipelines using data ingestion patterns and business requirements
· The Contractor shall build and deploy data pipelines in a cloud environment
· The Contractor shall document data flows and data pipeline architectures
· The Contractor shall perform end-to-end quality assurance of data
· The Contractor shall troubleshoot and correct issues with existing data pipelines
· The Contractor shall apply DevOps principles and philosophies to continuously delivery high value enhancements to software in a service-based architecture.
· The Contractor shall identify and document areas for improvement in workflows or systems for Sponsor’s consideration
· The Contractor shall maintain all source code in Sponsor-wide, remote Git repository.
Required Skills
· Demonstrated experience working in a Unix operating system to include usage of the Unix terminal.
· Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining data transformation scripts in Python.
· Demonstrated experience with writing code in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, Go, C#, or Scala
· Demonstrated experience ingesting, transforming, modeling, and storing data in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
· Demonstrated experience with modeling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
· Demonstrated experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases to store and retrieve data (ex. Postgres SQL, MySQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB).
· Demonstrated experience with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Highly Desired Skills & Experience
· Demonstrated experience in the following concepts: Database, Data Warehouse, Datalake, and Lakehouse.
· Demonstrated experience with modern data flow management and orchestration tools. For example, Flyte, Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Apache NiFi.
· Demonstrated experience utilizing containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or similar.
· Demonstrated experience ingesting, transforming, modeling, and storing data in the Sponsor’s cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
· Demonstrated experience with AI/ML methodologies and techniques
Travel
· Local Travel may be required for this position upon Sponsor approval
Job Requirements
· Active TS/SCI + Full Scope Poly U.S. Government Security is required
· Bachelor’s degree required
· 10+ (ten) years of relevant professional work experience
· Local travel may be required
· Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
· Strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to network and establish professional relationships
· Ability to prioritize, demonstrated strong organizational skills, and ability to meet or exceed deadlines
Physical Demands: Position will require frequent sitting, standing, and/or mobility within an office setting. Employee must be able to use hands to complete work at a workstation/computer, be able to reach, type and manipulate with hands, fingers, and arms; lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; talk, see and hear.
Work Environment: Work is performed on client site in a professional office environment with moderate stress and noise levels. Position requires employee to effectively use a computer, potentially for long periods of time, and to accommodate potentially frequent interruptions. Candidate should be both customer-focused and present a team approach to overall work.
Schedule: Business core hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. Standard work hours may vary for this position based upon contract requirements. Position will be located onsite at a customer facility in Reston, VA.
