Data Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary:
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data infrastructure and systems that support the organization’s data-driven initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines to extract, transform, and load large volumes of data from various sources.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure data pipeline requirements are met.
- Design and implement efficient data models and database schemas to support data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Optimize database performance and query execution.
- Develop and implement data transformation processes to cleanse, normalize, and aggregate data for analytics and reporting purposes.
- Apply data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Design and maintain data warehouse architecture and infrastructure to support the storage and retrieval of large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
- Monitor data pipelines, database performance, and system health to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (typically 2-3 years) as a Data Engineer, Big Data Engineer, or a similar role, preferably in the fintech industry or a financial institution.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Java
- Experience with data warehouse solutions such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL and database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases).
- Familiarity with big data technologies, such as Hadoop, Hive, HBase, or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of data modeling principles and database design.
- Understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance standards in the fintech industry.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
