Join a team of digital risk governance and security professionals, helping Swiss Re to fulfil its mission in making the world more resilient. As the Data Engineer, you’ll own the creation of data engineering pipelines to support our processes and derive informative insights. 
What’s more, you’ll be working in a hybrid setup, perfectly balancing work from home and the office premises.

 

 

About the team

 

The team you’ll join, Digital Risk Insights, is responsible bringing insights from the dynamically changing world of digital and technology risks – both within and outside Swiss Re. We aim to establish a “single source of truth” on our exposures, what we can do to mitigate them, and how we can measure our progress. For this, we combine our collective expertise, curiosity, and actively seek out effective data-driven solutions. 

We are part of the Security Team, which is the focal point for all security activities across Swiss Re. We are responsible for cybersecurity engineering and operations, governance, risk and compliance. We define and advance the company’s security and digital risk governance and control strategy. 

 

In your role, you will…

 

  • Be the subject matter expert for data and integration related topics
  • Transform business requirements into technical specifications
  • Design & build data models across multiple data sources
  • Build data pipelines to ingest data from source to enterprise data platforms
  • Establish and maintain an end-to-end “data blueprint” and keep relevant documentation up to date 
  • Contribute to the creation of comprehensive reporting solutions (self-service reports, dashboards) for our team and customers
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of reports and identify areas for improvement (including data quality checks and validation rules) 
  • Take on troubleshooting activities, ensure timely customer communication and coordinate follow-up activities

Your qualifications

What we need from you

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a relevant field, e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or other is an advantage
  • At least 3 years of experience in data engineering/ data modelling, database design and programming  
  • Strong track record of working with data engineering techniques and modern programming languages, analytical platforms (proficient in Python, PySpark, SQL)
  • Feel comfortable working in complex corporate environment 
  • Problem-solving skills and commitment to quality and timely delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
  • Passion, drive, and a belief in the value of data insights as an enabler of business performance

 

Nice-to-have

  • Prior knowledge in cybersecurity, risk management, privacy and related topics
  • Prior experience with Palantir Foundry as target platform 
  • Hands-on experience with statistical models and analysis/ data science
  • Hands-on experience with incorporating new technologies into solution design, such as NLP/ machine learning 
  • Experience implementing advanced UI design
  • Experience working in an Agile setup
