About this opportunity
You will join the Data team responsible for the acquisition, enrichment, and management of data for the Group Financial Prevention Program. The team is part of the Financial Crime Intelligence, Investigations & Analytics (FCIIA). Data – Governance, Data Quality and Operations is a sub-team within FCIIA’s broader Data unit. As a team leader you will report into the Head of Data (Engelbert Samson).
What you’ll be doing:
- FCIIA is seeking an inspirational leader who can both empower people to grow and bring a high level of capability in both the strategic and operational deliveries
- Define and lead the delivery and operation of the Governance, Data Quality and Operations capabilities
- Managing and mentoring a team providing the Governance, Data Quality and Operations capabilities to support a broad range of financial crime prevention use cases
- Engage with multiple stakeholders across first and second lines of defence to translate business challenges into the above capabilities
- Coach, guide and inspire team members towards building and operating the above capabilities to increase efficiency and effectiveness of our financial crime defence
- Plan activities with other responsible parties to support full end-to-end capability delivery
- Improve and implement processes together with other leaders
- Taking responsibility of own and the team’s learning by proactively seeking out opportunities within FCIIA i.e. research and explore value-adding solutions, suggest training and stay at the forefront of financial crime trends
- Stay up to date on the latest data management processes and tools to improve existing solutions

The role is based in either Estonia, Helsinki, or Sweden, but you will be co-operating closely with other FCIIA teams across the Nordics.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you:
- Have a strong vision on what are the next generation data management process and tools for financial crime prevention, specifically governance, data quality, and/or operations
- Extraordinary skills in applying proven data management practices to complex real-world problems in a multi-data source environment
- Experience in solving business problems
- Self-starter who has the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Sharp decision making-skills and strong ability to assimilate new information quickly, and ability to work in a proactive manner
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and accuracy under high pressure situations
- Results oriented team player with the ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize and organize assignments
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong spoken/written communication skills. Fluency in English – both written and spoken communication is mandatory
- Adept at multi-tasking and meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment, as well as strong problem solving ability
Your experience and background:
- Have a degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field.
- Prior team management experience is mandatory
- Several years of relevant working experience in data management in particular Governance, Data Quality and Operations capabilities with a proven track record
- Understanding of banking products and financial instruments will be an advantage
- Experience from working in financial crime prevention will be an advantage
- Understanding of other financial sector’s requirements, e.g., KYC, ODD/EDD measurements will be seen as advantageous
- Experience working in agile train structures and demonstrated hands-on expertise in Hadoop based data solutions, enterprise search tools such as Elastic Search, and cloud based solutions such as AWS or Snowflake are a bonus
