Project Description

SNV is seeking funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) for the second phase of the BRIDGE project. BRIDGE+ supports the dairy sector in Ethiopia through ten components, i.e. extension, input markets, output markets and market linkages, nutrition, food safety, professionalization, action research, MEAL, policy and partnerships, and GESI. The project uses a market-based approach, operating in the various regions of the country, creating impact at the dairy farmer level and also contributing to sector transformation.

Purpose of the Job

The overall purpose of the position is to oversee the development and use of data systems within the BRIDGE+ project. Related to knowledge management, the position holder is responsible to oversee all knowledge-related activities, including the management, capturing, sharing and accessibility of knowledge assets of the project.

Job Description

Key activities:

Data Systems Design and Implementation

  • Design and implement standardized database management systems, and procedures and oversee the upgrading of the database system.
  • Ensure effective data management, formulate data collection techniques, implement secure procedures for data handling and analysis, and establish data sharing rules.
  • Design and implement data integration, transformation, and migration processes to ensure that data from different sources and formats can be consolidated, cleaned, and harmonized.
  • Together with the MEAL advisor, Manage the project LogAlto data management system.

Data Quality and Security

  • Ensure that data received from project functional units and partners are timely entered into the program database with the required data quality standards.
  • Perform data quality audits, validations, and corrections to identify and resolve any data errors, anomalies, or inconsistencies.
  • Implement appropriate data security measures to protect data from unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure.

Data Analysis and Accessibility

  • Undertake data analysis of project performance and survey/ assessment data and generate analytical summaries, charts, visualizations, and dashboards and producing ad hoc reports from databases according to the needs of project staff.

Knowledge Management

  • Design and lead the implementation of strategies to enhance knowledge management.
  • Create opportunities to generate knowledge, capture and synthesize project information through knowledge management tools.
  • Facilitate & coordinate the full production cycle for knowledge products (print, digital, and audio/visual), including copyediting, layout/design, and printing, including services outsourced for external service providers (editing, design, printing, etc.).
  • Manage the project SharePoint and other knowledge & data sharing platforms.

SNV-MEAL Community practice group/Team

  • In her/his capacity S/he will participate in the SNV-MEAL community practice group/team to contribute for leaning & exchange.

Any other related duties assigned by the Project Manager -BRIDGE+

Qualifications

  • BA/B.Sc. degree with a minimum 5 years of experience, specialised in Economies, Statistics, Agri-business, data science, M&E/Project Management, information systems or related fields. Master’s degree in the fields listed preferable.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in facilitating in data management and knowledge development.
  • Practical skill on digital data management systems, SPSS, Stata, MIS and data modelling and data analysis tools.

Contract Type: National

Expected start date: 01, August 2024.

Duty Station:  Addis Ababa

Contract Duration: One year with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.
