Data Product Owner

Description –

As a Data Product Owner, you’ll be responsible for driving the development and implementation of data-related products or services within Pricing and Profitability team. Your role involves understanding the needs of stakeholders, defining product requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions that meet business goals. This role requires a combination of technical ability, business acumen, and leadership skills to succeed.

Responsibilities:

Product Vision and Strategy: Define the vision, goals, and roadmap for data products based on market trends, customer feedback, and business priorities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Strategically partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and priorities, including business leaders, data scientists, analysts, and IT teams.

Requirement Gathering and Prioritization: Elicit, document, prioritize and translate complex market and stakeholder needs into data product requirements and definitions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, developers, and analysts, to deliver data products according to specifications and timelines.

Product Development and Iteration: Lead agile product development processes, including planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews. Supply guidance and direction to development teams to ensure that product features are delivered on time and within scope.

User Story Definition: Write user stories and acceptance criteria that clearly define product features and functionality. Ensure that user stories are actionable, testable, and aligned with the overall product vision.

Quality Assurance and Testing: Define acceptance criteria and collaborate with QA teams to ensure that data products meet quality standards and user expectations. Conduct user acceptance testing and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Release Management: Coordinate with release management teams to plan and execute product releases, including communication plans, release notes, and user training materials.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Check the performance of data products in production environments. Analyze user feedback, usage metrics, and performance data to show areas for optimization and improvement.

Risk Management: Find potential risks and dependencies associated with data product development and implementation. Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address risks and ensure project success.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.

Proven experience (7+ years) in product management, project management, or business analysis roles, preferably in data-driven or technology-driven environments.

Strong understanding of data management principles, data analysis techniques, and data visualization tools.

Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience leading agile product development teams will be ideal.

Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Analytical mindset, with strong critical thinking skills and diligence.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Certification in product management or project management is desirable, but not a limitation.
