Job Summary

The Data Quality Analyst will help ensure that data used by internal stakeholders is accurate and reliable. This role involves monitoring, assessing, and improving the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of data. The Data Quality Analyst will work independently to understand the data domain and define data quality rules to ensure quality data for downstream consumption. This role will work with business subject matter experts, data stewards, data owners to understand the quality issues and then analyze and document data quality related issues for implementation.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical data steward responsible for identifying patterns and/or relationships across different subject areas of data, developing standard and complex data quality rules, analyzing and documenting data quality related issues, and coordinating with other data stewards as required.
  • Work with business stewards and business data owners to gather data quality requirements, analyze and document the requirements, seek approval on requirements and liaise with the development team to support the implementation of data quality rules.
  • Independently solve problems and fix technical issues.
  • Assist with data profiling and cleansing.
  • Conduct research to identify trends in data quality issues to develop solutions for potential problems.
  • Design and execute technical aspects of function in partnership with data quality implementation, integration, and architecture teams.
  • Collaborate directly with teammates and business partners to build solutions that solve data quality problems and are reusable, scalable, fast, and maintainable.
  • Analyze data quality issues to determine their cause and impact on the organization.
  • Coordinate and support user acceptance testing for data governance related deliverables.
  • Document, analyze, and socialize data quality reports and trends.
  • Support other data governance related aspects including business glossary, data dictionary, reference data, data lineage, data classification etc.

 

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in General Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, Analytics or Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 0-3 years of experience working as a technical data steward
  • Experience with Informatica Data Governance tools.
  • Experience in data mapping, requirements, and business process analysis
  • Experience using SQL and ETL mapping tools
  • Experience with waterfall and agile development methodologies preferred
  • Experience with industry data modeling techniques and processes preferred
  • Insurance industry experience & knowledge of Annuity/Life products, product lifecycle, policy administration systems, valuation, accounting, financial reporting, and other concepts of Insurance business preferred
  • Experience with Tableau, JIRA, Informatica, Alteryx preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding of ETL flow to document data flow throughout organization.
  • Expert SQL skills to analyze data issues.
  • Proficient in requirements gathering methodologies and the SDLC.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fast, and adaptive learner.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Exhibits flexibility and tolerance for ambiguity with the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing business environment.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Ability to lead a team and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Dedicated work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Minimal travel required (less than 10%)
