What you will do
- Work with the various Commercial partners to ensure proper data collection, cleansing, processing, and accuracy of our transactional data model.
- Partner with global team members to create and evaluate data driven solutions for both leadership and our product business units through various tools.
- Deliver better data driven business insights through building of predictive models and algorithms using ML and DL techniques.
Team and Function:
- Data & Analytics for the Global Products Commercial organization
- We provide a variety of reporting to the individual sales orgs as well as aggregated Global data up to executive level leadership
- We partner with the sales teams, IT, Finance, and other Global functions to help consolidate data across all JCI brands and products
How you will do it
- Our team has migrated to a Snowflake environment that offers direct access to all JCI system data stored on the same platform. This has allowed our team to provide expedited reporting without the need to worry about ETL processes.
- The main D&A focus has been to capture and normalize daily sales/orders for all Global Products ERP data (50+ systems) and combine this with a bevy of other tools like Salesforce, A/R systems, quoting tools, etc.
- With this work, our team can start to provide more predictive analytics surrounding our customers and products that would otherwise not be possible using just financial numbers.
- We are currently working on a predictive forecasting model built off our data that will help the businesses better accurately forecast sales for the coming months, with a goal to get down to specific customers/products for our plants.
- We are also partnering with IT and other functions to build out a full JCI customer and product master catalog that spans all ERP systems that will help feed various JCI tools.
- JCI is a Microsoft company so outside of Snowflake, we mainly specialize in Power BI as a reporting tool, however we have access to many cleansing tools like Informatica, DemandTools, etc to help with data normalization.
Selling Points:
- You are coming into JCI at a time of expansion surrounding Data & Analytics within the company. Predictive analysis is still very fresh to our business and will provide immediate visibility to leadership if proven effective. Our team itself is a central cog in the Global Products organization that has it’s hands in not only Commercial, but Finance, HR, S&OP, IT, etc. Through our commitment to building a normalized Global model, our team has been tapped for many various centralized and function specific projects.
- Our Commercial D&A team itself is small but effective. We have experienced team leads who help guide a collection of skilled analysts and scientists on various projects that range from needing data cleansing, mapping, ETL work, visualization, and prediction.
- The prediction piece is where we see the most growth for this role as we have the normalization and mastering under control, however using that data to make smart decisions for our customers, brands, and products is greatly desired. You would be coming in as one of the few people within our organization who can help build and run advanced models which will greatly set you apart.
- From a career growth perspective, our team is looking to greatly expand in the Global Products business. We see this role as something that will move into a Senior/Lead Scientist who would be responsible for everything modelling related. This role would eventually fit alongside our other leads responsible for the other key areas within our team.
What we look for
- Short term expectations:
- The position would work alongside our Data lead, learning and then enhancing our daily sales data model. You would work with our Business Units to ensure proper accuracy of sales/orders and help with continuing to build our proper customer and product data governance.
- Long term expectations:
- Once a proper understanding of the data is had, we would expect the position to start owning projects centered around true advanced data modelling. You would be building models to help understand sales capacity, demand planning, forecasting, etc. This role will be key to helping the business take the data that we consume and turn that into useful information for business decisions.
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
- Over 2 years of experience in a data science or analytics role, with a proven track record of delivering impactful insights, products, and solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
- Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as regression, time series data, classification, clustering, and deep learning.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, matplotlib, seaborn, Tableau) and SQL databases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Snowflake, Spark, MySQL, etc.
*Please note*
Flexibility:
- Hybrid is ideal as we do have a Milwaukee based team/leadership that does go into the office 2+ days a week, however we are okay with remote with the right candidate. Hybrid will help provide more visibility to leadership.
Willingness to pay for Relocation and Sponsorship:
- In the current environment, we would likely be more flexible with the pay range than we would for relocation or sponsorship.
