Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The DDX Data Scientist is a strategic thought partner who can translate complex business questions into quantitatively defined and measurable analytics to assist stakeholders in Sherwin-Williams’ PSG Marketing Group.
This position is responsible for understanding business questions and using analytic tools and techniques to provide insights and recommendations.
This person can analyze and glean insights from data but can also move beyond the “what” to the “why” behind various trends.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and business relationships
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, interprets, and explains analytic findings to monitor customer purchase behavior and engagement to provide data-driven, actionable insights for improving customer acquisition, retention, and conversion across various channels.
- Ability to perform statistical modeling to derive insights from data. Includes the use to advanced, machine learning modeling techniques.
- Supports the adoption of analytic best practices, the utilization of common tools and analytic disciplines needed to gauge effectiveness of customer experiences to inform decisions required to drive sales and grow market share.
- Extract, manipulate and blend data from various sources to provide accurate and timely analytics to the business.
- Assists in the creation and completion of multivariate and A/B testing documents (from hypothesis creation to influencing creative to identifying success metrics) and post-test analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS
FORMAL EDUCATION:
a. Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Marketing Analytics, Statistics, or other with equivalent work experience in analytics and training
b. Preferred:
- MBA or Graduate-level Degree
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
a. Required:
- 4+ years’ experience on an analytics team (preferably marketing analytics).
- Experience utilizing tools like Dataiku, H2O, DataRobot
- Familiarity with statistical programming languages, as well as statistical concepts.
- Expertise in the building, evaluating, and deploying statistical / machine learning models.
- Experience working in databases with SQL related tools
b. Preferred:
- Experience working with Tableau or other BI Tools
- Retail or CPG experience
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
a. Required:
- Ability to understand trends and metrics and convey the “so what” and the “now what”
- Query and Analyze data in a large relational databases
b. Preferred:
- Create and present findings to leadership
- Ability to build high-level dashboard reporting/extract data sets as needed
- Python, R (or other) for statistical analytics.
