Data Scientist
HERE was established to examine IUH’s internal operations and clinical care through the lens of its diverse patients and communities, focusing on equitable patient Access, Experiences and Quality outcomes. This work is supported by 3 pillars: Data Monitoring and Transparency to enhance trustworthiness; Rigor in Research and Evidence-based Interventions to optimize effectiveness; and Engagement with Communities and Key Stakeholders to ensure partnerships and coordination for an impactful and responsive health equity strategy. We are looking for a skilled Data Scientist to join our team and drive data-driven decision-making to promote health equity across our organization. As a Data Scientist, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to extract insights from complex healthcare data, develop predictive and explanatory models, and support strategic initiatives to improve equitable access, experience, and outcomes of patient care
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Solves business problems through making testable predictions from data.
- Responsibilities include: consulting with stakeholders to identify business problems, curating any data necessary, creating machine learning models and programmatically updating models and predictions.
- Success is accomplished by creating interactive visualizations to communicate model performance and business impact, meeting the needs of end-users, and soliciting feedback for continual improvement.
STRONGLY PREFERRED:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, along with experience using data manipulation and visualization libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib, seaborn).
- Experience working with healthcare data (e.g., electronic health records, claims data, clinical trials data) and familiarity with healthcare standards and terminologies (e.g., HL7, ICD, CPT).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical end users.
- Experience with statistical methods and machine learning algorithms (e.g., resampling methods, ensemble models, forecasting models).
- Familiarity with cloud services such as Azure.
- Demonstrated experience creating dashboards using tools like Tableau.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Masters Degree required.
- 3 Years of experience required.
- Strong demonstrated working knowledge of SQL and data modeling required.
- Demonstrated experience with statistical methods and machine learning algorithms (e.g. resampling methods, ensemble models, forecasting models).
- Demonstrated experience scripting with a general-purpose language (e.g. Python).
- Demonstrated experience creating dashboards (e.g. Tableau).
- Demonstrated experience using cloud services (e.g. Azure).
