Overview:

Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking a Data Scientist for our home office team.

PHS is seeking an experienced data scientist to help architect, engineer and implement a transformational approach to using data within senior living. Initially focusing on gathering and analyzing large amounts of unstructured data from various sources, convert it into structured data while architecting, securing and maintaining PHS’ Microsoft Fabric Data Lake. Further, using mathematical and statistical expertise, identify patterns in data through business intelligence as well as artificial intelligence to answer business questions and offer actionable recommendations. The role involves presenting clear, easy-to-understand results in the form of visualizations, collaborating with different teams on their data and ensuring all data handling complies with company policies.

This is a full-time, hybrid position (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Data Scientist reports directly to the Director of Information Technology-Applications, and works closely with the VP, Administrative Officer.

Responsibilities:

The duties of the Data Scientist responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as lead data strategist to identify and integrate new datasets that can be leveraged through our product capabilities; collaborate closely with the engineering team in the development of data products.
  • Collects and analyzes statistics and information from multiple sources to identify trends, gaining maximum insight that can give PHS a competitive advantage; communicate informed conclusions and recommendations across an organization’s leadership structure.
  • Strategizes and identify unique opportunities to locate and collect new data; explore and mine data from multiple angles to determine what it meaning and business impact.
  • Communicates data findings to both business and IT leaders, influencing how PHS approaches and meets business challenges in response to an evolving customer base and changing marketplace, using strong business acumen.
  • Finds and recommends new uses for existing data sources; designs, modifies, and builds new data processes; while constructing large, complex data sets to drive improved insights.
  • Execute analytical experiments to help solve problems across various domains, enhancing performance through data-driven solutions.
  • Identify relevant data sources and datasets to mine for client business needs; collect, process, and analyze large structured and unstructured datasets and variables.
  • Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big-data stores; perform data and error analysis to refine models; clean and validate data for accuracy and consistency.
  • Analyze data for trends and patterns, interpreting data with clear objectives and actionable insights in mind.
  • Implement analytical models in production by collaborating with software developers, machine-learning engineers, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize business use cases where advanced analytics can deliver measurable improvements to operational outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering preferred.
  • 7+ years of technical data access, reporting, and technical implementation experience preferred including ETL projects.
  • 5 years of high-level, Executive reporting experience with significant experience in starting, managing and transitioning to production, multiple concurrent reporting projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Power Applications and the broader Microsoft ecosystem; accessing SaaS data and utilizing API’s to pull data into a data lake or data warehouse.
  • Experience in data transformations, semantic model design and automation of data interfaces via scripting and tools.Expert level understanding of relational database models independent of database provider; taking distributed data, aggregating that data and developing a common data set to be used to assist in driving business analytics

  • Expert level experience with Microsoft PowerBI, DAX data modeling and creating visualizations.
  • Experience in building Large Language Model solutions with internally accessible data.
  • Experience in the Post-Acute Care industry a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to teach and instruct standard and basic reporting techniques to non-technical business resources.
  • Process analysis and process design experience as it relates to understanding business need and transformation of those needs into effective and efficient data access, transformation, interface and reporting solutions.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in formal management of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS’s mission and operating philosophies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
