About Twinkl:

Twinkl is a renowned global digital educational publisher committed to providing high-quality teaching materials and support to educators. With a mission to help those who teach, our extensive range of teacher-created content includes schemes of work, lesson planning, assessments, online educational games, apps, and augmented reality experiences. In collaboration with Vitruvian Partners, our recent partnership enables us to further explore innovative avenues and expand our support to the global teaching community.

About the Role:

As a Data Science Intern at Twinkl, you’ll join a team of over 20 data scientists, analysts, and statisticians integral to Twinkl’s operations. We have a long-term vision to create a world-class data provision that extracts valuable insights from our extensive datasets and translates these into impact.

We operate within a Data Guild framework, empowering individuals to immerse themselves in solving real-world problems at the heart of our operations by being placed directly into a team/product. To thrive here, you’ll need to utilise a diverse skill set including data collation, descriptive analysis, problem diagnosis and predictive modelling, bolstered by expertise in visualisation, statistics, machine learning and critical thinking.

Our work spans a broad spectrum of Data Analysis and Science, encompassing tasks such as Data Collection, Descriptive Data, Investigating Data, Diagnosing Problems, and Predicting and Prescribing actions. To achieve this, Data Scientists utilise their skills in visualisation, statistics, machine learning, and critical thinking.

Despite this support focus, here at Twinkl, we like to empower the Data Scientists to get directly involved with suggesting and pushing their own ideas. We have become a successful team by creating an environment where the individual Data Scientist can spot opportunities and directly impact the business. This, along with our fast-paced mindset , and 80/20 rule, has meant the data team is continuously part of the big impact changes at Twinkl.

Our culture fosters innovation, encouraging interns to contribute ideas and drive impactful changes within the organisation. With our face-paced environment and adherence to the 80/20 rule, interns have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at Twinkl.

To ensure you get off to a strong start, you’ll participate in an induction programme led by one of our senior data scientists gaining hands-on experience with essential technologies like SQL, Python, Tableau, and BigQuery, and embrace data-led ways of working. Most importantly, you’ll be able to put these skills to the test on real business problems by undertaking projects, responding to business requests, and creating visualisations to communicate insights effectively. After this, you’ll be placed in one of our cross-functional teams to work alongside them to support their goals. We’ll also link you up with a mentor, an existing member of the data team, who’ll be on hand to help you settle into your new role.

This is an exciting opportunity to put theoretical knowledge into a real-world setting. If you excel during the internship, you’ll have the opportunity to transition into a permanent role as a Graduate Data Scientist,  contributing to our ongoing success and shaping the future of education..
