THI is seeking a mission-driven a Data Scientist, Data Lake specialized in data cleaning, curation, and labeling. This role will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and usability of ophthalmic data for machine learning and other analytics initiatives. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing data cleaning and preprocessing pipelines, curating datasets for specific use cases, and executing data labeling efforts.
Main Responsibilities:
Data Cleaning and Preprocessing:
- Design and implement robust data cleaning processes to identify and address missing values, outliers, inconsistencies, and errors in datasets.
- Develop and maintain data preprocessing pipelines to standardize, transform, and normalize data.
- Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to identify and correct data quality issues.
Data Curation and Labelling:
- Select, extract, and organize relevant data from diverse sources to create curated datasets tailored to specific use cases.
- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and documentation throughout the curation process.
- Design and manage data labeling projects to generate high-quality labeled data.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and consistency of labeled data.
- Develop and maintain tools and scripts for automating data cleaning, curation, and labeling tasks.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with clinical scientists, data engineers, ML engineers, and domain experts to understand data needs and challenges.
- Clearly communicate data quality findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Stay up to date on the latest techniques and tools in data cleaning, curation, and labeling.
Qualifications:
- BSc or MSc in Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer or Data Science
- 2 years’ experience doing clinical science or developing data-driven algorithms for medical devices.
- Experience in the ophthalmic industry is preferred, and experience with OCT data is highly preferred.
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks and projects with a high degree of efficiency and comfort with ambiguity.
- Expertise with statistical packages such as Python or R is highly desirable.
- Expertise with Matlab, IDL, or similar packages is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL.
- Experience with cloud computing applications (such as AWS or Azure)
- A passion for leveraging data to improve patient care and drive innovation
Base Pay:
Expected Base Pay Range: $70,000 to $110,000 Annualized
The base pay range included is a projected hiring range for a position, level and potential work location(s) listed. Topcon provides the compensation range that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.
