DATA SCIENTIST (FTC 6-12 weeks) – FLUENCY UK

We are hiring a Data Scientist to start immediately on for a contract of 6-12 weeks. The role offers an incredible opportunity to be part of a highly supportive, passionate team with collaborative learning at its heart. This position is based in our London office on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be central to working with the wider data team to help deliver a project to a deadline. You will also be critical to supporting the development and roll-out of a new analytics. You will have a voice in the ongoing refinement and automation of these products and approaches.

The project will include working closely with the data engineering team & internal stakeholders to ensure that the new tool delivers all required features. The project will include a significant degree of NLP, including usage of LLMs. There will also be a significant amount of data wrangling, combining data from a variety of providers to create a single clean data set for analysis. This will then be used to create a dynamic scoring system.

You will build robust data pipelines, ensuring all work is well documents, and you will generate dynamic models enabling on the fly adjustments.

You will have responsibility for delivering projects and growing existing solutions and supporting with new business pitches. Working with data science colleagues, data engineers, and analysts, you will bring expertise in using data to help solve client problems, as happy deploying new, advanced solutions as you are delivering day-to-day.

You will be comfortable diving into a wide range of tools and techniques to help analysts generate insight and be a quick learner able to get under the skin of our own tools and approaches quickly.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll work with our data team and our partners to turn data into powerful, actionable insight & recommendations.
  • You’ll be keen to develop internal client relationships and have a sharp brain and good foundational knowledge of data approaches and practices.
  • You’ll help inform marketing direction with responsibility for working in to the lead data scientist and Fluency leadership team in the origination of brand and marketing metrics & analytics and deployment of new AI solutions.
  • You’ll show the desire to create data-driven structures and narratives that drive impactful change across the marketing landscape.
  • You’ll embrace an outcome-oriented culture, where strategy & tactics are alive and help clients thrive
  • You’ll contribute to Fluency’s own strategic development methodologies
  • You’ll help disrupt the space working with best-in-class suppliers
  • You’ll drive at your own knowledge base, actively deepening your skills

ABOUT YOU

You are a data analyst and self-starter with an inquisitive mind. You are not afraid to ask questions. You form thought-provoking hypotheses. You are ‘in the detail’ and love learning new approaches and techniques.

You enjoy finding stories and truths in data. You want to help clients transform. You understand the importance of data in making informed decisions. You have a strong POV on how data is used now. You have a strong POV on how data can do more to help. You have an open mind to learning new techniques and approaches.

You’re good at:

  • Excel, operating at an excellent level
  • Python, SQL, (R is also useful but not essential)
  • High attention to detail
  • Desirable: AWS or GCP

You’ll bring with you (experience and qualifications):

  • Experience of working with LLMs
  • Experience of building dynamic scoring systems & benchmarking data
  • Data engineering curiosity/practice, looking to deploy newly acquired skills in a working environment under the supervision of data science leads
  • Previous experience of working in an analytics environment; client-side or agency/consultancy/tech
  • The desire to create data-driven structures and narratives that drive impactful change across the marketing landscape
  • Genuine passion for data science (you would do it for fun!)
  • Strong academic record, though not prerequisite ad degree level.
  • Desirable areas of study and experience of practical application: economics, maths/stats, data science, physics
  • Desirable previous client-facing experience (speaking to clients and sharing your findings is your comfort zone)
