In your role as a Data Scientist, you’ll work closely with our coaching teams to create scalable analytics, models and insights that enable personalized and timely support for our members.
This role is focused on developing, maintaining, and leveraging continuous insights into coaching and clinical operations; examples include (1) deriving and tracking actionable metrics, (2) scheduling coach and provider staffing through predictive forecasting, (3) optimizing capacity management for coaches and providers, and (4) surfacing member feedback/impact metrics for improved personalized support for our members. Through these activities, this role is foundational in driving better clinical outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Resolves and assesses a wide range of issues in creative ways and suggests variations in approach.

Devises solutions based on limited information and precedent and adapts existing approaches to resolve issues.

Work is done independently and is reviewed at critical points.

Support detailed analyses, modeling and forecasting for key operational areas ranging from marketing to finance to clinical operations and impact our rapidly growing business.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, scope and solve problems they face, and help decision-makers on the team form educated, practical strategies and recommendations.

Proactively discover important trends in key metrics impacting our business, distill key insights, present to key executives, and drive meaningful actions.

Leverage a broad set of technical skills and strong business understanding to creatively solve complex problems with strategic impact.

Provide insights about our products and member experience to inform Product and Marketing teams for roadmap and feature decisions.

Build model pipelines and data models that enable actionable visualizations and insights to business stakeholders.

Solid communication and stakeholder management skills plus ability to deliver complex projects in time.
The time spent on each responsibility reflects an estimate and is subject to change dependent on business needs.

Qualifications Expected for Position

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, statistics, information systems, engineering or a related field.

5+ years’ experience in Data Science, Business Analytics or a related field in SaaS or consumer companies, or in an academic/clinical setting (e.g., MS, MPH, PhD).

Strong SQL skills, ability to code in and analyze data with Python (or R), and practical experience with BI tools like Tableau.

A firm understanding of statistical (inference and hypothesis testing) and machine learning concepts/techniques, with strong experience in applying these concepts to solve business problems.

Strong critical thinking, active listening and good communication skills to infer business needs, grasp underlying context, and translate loose direction on analytical projects into concrete solutions.

Compelling storytelling through analytics and visualization, getting your point across and keeping your audience engaged.

The flexibility to respond to changing priorities and business environments.

Work experience in product analytics highly preferred.
The base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $155,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here Teladoc Health Benefits 2024. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
