Data Solutions Architect
Job Description
The Data Solutions Architect is responsible for designing and implementing the data architecture that supports the organization’s digital initiatives. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that data solutions are aligned with business goals, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and security across all digital platforms. The Data Solutions Architect will also play a pivotal role in optimizing data systems and driving data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
– Develop and maintain a comprehensive data architecture strategy to support digital transformation.
– Design data models, schemas, and data flows to ensure effective data integration, storage, and retrieval.
– Establish and enforce data management standards, best practices, and governance policies.
Data Solutions Development and Documentation:
– Create and maintain detailed documentation for data solutions, including data models, architectures, workflows, and integration points.
– Develop technical specifications and guidelines to assist data consultants, engineers, and analysts in implementing data solutions.
– Ensure documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to all relevant stakeholders.
– Maintain records of data architecture changes and improvements for audit and compliance purposes.
– Document data flow diagrams and processes to support data governance and security measures.
Data Integration and Optimization:
– Lead the integration of data from multiple sources, including cloud, on-premises, and third-party systems.
– Optimize data pipelines and workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
– Ensure that data is accessible, accurate, and actionable for stakeholders across the organization.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
– Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to implement data solutions that meet business needs.
– Engage with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into effective data architecture solutions.
– Act as a bridge between technical teams and business units to ensure data solutions are aligned with organizational goals.
Data Governance and Security:
– Define and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
– Work with IT and security teams to ensure data security protocols are in place and adhered to.
– Monitor data usage, quality, and performance, and make recommendations for improvements.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
– Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data architecture and digital transformation.
– Evaluate new data technologies and tools to enhance the organization’s data capabilities.
– Drive continuous improvement in data architecture and data management practices.
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
– 10 to 12 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or data engineering.
– Proven experience with data modeling, database design, and data integration techniques.
– Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Apache Hadoop, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Amazon EMR, or Azure HDinsights).
– Experience working in a digital environment, ideally within a Digital Center of Excellence or similar organization.
Skills:
– Strong expertise in data architecture design and data management principles.
– Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
– Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance standards.
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
– Strong communication and collaboration skills.
– Knowledge of modern data technologies (e.g., big data platforms, NoSQL databases, data lakes).
– Ability to develop comprehensive data solutions documentation and provide technical guidance to data consultants, engineers, and analysts.
