Job Description
The Data Specialist, Mail Processing Equipment is responsible for the support and development of data exchange applications and infrastructure between plant floor equipment, and enterprise reporting systems. This includes the management and configuration of numerous servers, applications, and tools to ensure valuable machine data being produced by sorting equipment is available to enterprise stakeholders in the company.
Job Responsibilities
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Data Specialist, Mail Processing Equipment:
1. Acts as an internal subject matter expert (SME) providing technical and operational expertise to support the maintenance of custom developed data exchange applications both legacy and current. Contributes to creating and maintaining technical documentation, such as interface specifications.
2. Participates as a member of the support and development team specializing in plant data exchange (PDX) solutions consisting of various components including, reading of equipment log files, web reporting of statistics, and file preparation / distribution.
3. Provides software development life cycle support, including technical requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, change management, and stabilization to the Engineering and Maintenance departments.
4. Monitors the ongoing technical performance of data exchange systems and shares weekly on-call support duties.

5. Works with Regional Maintenance, Engineering and Operations Excellence teams to troubleshoot and resolve system and operational issues and to implement system improvements.
6. Implements and maintains production and development servers, including testing environments along with source code repository. Acts as the lead technical subject matter expert responsible for the compile, test, and release processes.
7. Provides pricing and plans work activities related to hardware and software changes to custom built applications such as PDX. Analyses, evaluates, and develops solution options for the system and provides insight and recommendations on additional solutions or innovations.
Qualifications
Education
• A University degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
• A minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience is required.
• Programming experience required in the .Net environment using Visual Studio with C# and ASP.NET MVC
• Experience working with Microsoft server, Microsoft SQL server installations.
• Experience working with Microsoft workstation installations.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical clients.
• Experience with data driven applications.
• Knowledge of operating systems.
• Microsoft SQL or Oracle database experience.
• Experience with software testing and deployments.
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Experience with Microsoft PowerShell.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL server.
Other Candidate Requirements
• Linux/Unix Shell Scripting and Microsoft PowerShell experience.
• Proficiency in automating regression testing.
• Knowledge of modifying SQL scripts and stored procedures.
• Android development experience.
• Proficiency in server/workstation backup and restore procedures along with disaster recovery.
• Proficiency in building Kiosk workstations.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Visual Basic.
• Mercurial source control experience.
