Job Description

Publicis Groupe are seeking a Data Strategist to anchor our data-driven initiatives within the pharmaceutical sector, with a keen focus on strategy development and best practice documentation. This pivotal role involves not only collaborating with data scientists and analysts but also steering the strategic direction of projects by defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and methodologies and ensuring comprehensive documentation of data practices and outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic marketing insight, data expertise, and the ability to conceptualize and articulate best practices in data science applications for pharmaceutical clients.

Cross Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with your Data & Technology Director/Managers, media, & account talent within Japan and global COEs to uncover client data & technology needs and priorities to respond to or address media and operational use cases.

  • Partner with client-facing teams to analyze data and deliver insights and analysis that provide analytical storytelling.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Strategically evaluate data-led initiatives, defining KPIs aligning with pharmaceutical client goals and industry standards.
  • Act as the primary strategist for data projects, guiding interdisciplinary teams of data scientists and analysts in the conception and execution of data-driven strategies.
  • Lead developing and documenting best practices, methodologies, and standards for data science and analytics projects, ensuring replicability and scalability.
  • Oversee the creation of comprehensive documentation for all data initiatives, from project inception to analysis and insights delivery, ensuring clarity and accessibility for all stakeholders.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination across teams, enhancing the organization’s capabilities in data science applications within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Stay at the forefront of data science trends, tools, and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical sector, integrating these insights into strategic planning and best practice development.


  • Proven strategic acumen in data science applications, strongly emphasizing KPI development and best practice formulation.
  • Expertise in leading cross-functional data teams, with a clear vision for integrating data science and analytics into actionable business strategies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical martech dynamics, data compliance, and the critical role of data in achieving marketing and business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, capable of translating complex data concepts into strategic insights and coherent documentation.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools, digital analytics platforms, and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
  • Degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field, complemented by professional experience in strategic data roles within pharmaceutical or marketing industries.
  • Business level English proficiency required; Japanese language proficiency is an advantage.
