The Department/Team

We are a team of consultants with deep actuarial subject matter expertise in individual life and annuity insurance industry. Combined with our expertise in technology, financial modeling and analysis, this enables us to provide our clients with advanced analytics and insights required to develop a comprehensive understanding of the business, and to make informed decisions.

Your Role/What You’ll Do

Data Visualization Designer role is a critical one – we operate on an ad hoc basis with our clients and are constantly both pitching for and delivering high-value project work in a presentation format.

The successful candidate would partner with our consultants to visualize and develop presentation content to help tell stories in a clear and effective manner. Using creative visual strategies, you will translate complex technical ideas into impactful content that is memorable and easier to comprehend. Some examples of such assignments include:

  • Collaborating with team members to review content, identify goals of presentation and effectively present the material in a visually appealing format and in adherence with our brand standards.
  • Utilize various data visualization techniques to help with key messaging for client deliverables and marketing materials. Develop impactful charts and illustrations.
  • Tailoring slide layouts to support the development of slides used for specific projects and for master slides used by the practice.
  • Taking on project management responsibilities to ensure the final output meets key objectives and is delivered on a timely basis.

Your Qualifications

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Project Management Skills: Ability to taking raw content from consultants and establish requirements for a successful outcome based on presentation length, time allocated and any key requests.

Attention to detail and ability to work with data: Our presentations include highly technical content which must be presented with accuracy and clarity. Ability to express technical ideas in a visually appealing format is required.

Communication skills: You will be working as part of project teams; maintaining strong communication and coordination with your teammates throughout project work is essential.

Display proven experience with similar assignments as well as excellent coordination, administration, communication and multitasking skills.

Expert-level knowledge in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in design-related field such as graphic design or advertising design
  • 4 years of professional experience in a related role or freelancing
  • The ability to share a minimum of TWO work product samples which are representative of your work
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint®
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office® suite

Desired:

  • Strong design background
  • Experience in finance-related presentation work
  • Experience with BI platforms (PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Self-motivated individual with a results-oriented work ethic and the ability to build strong working relationships with peers
  • Ability to analyze and apply creative problem solving both independently and within a team
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability and willingness to clearly articulate ideas
  • The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment where the client is always first

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Chicago, IL on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered.
