Position Overview
Vantage is looking for a mid-level Software professional who has proficiency in data modeling, data analysis, data engineering, installing/ upgrading/ patching database servers and software installed on both the Windows and Linux platform. This also includes managing and administering database solutions provided in the Cloud. This position will confidently write queries, construct tables, program views, functions, and stored procedures. Has experience with tuning queries and troubleshooting poor query performance. Understands the importance of data protection and high availably solutions so that the organization is prepared in the event a server failure, data corruption, or even in the event of a user mistake. Can use server telemetry software to manage a collection of servers and provide status on the data environment. It’s also important as the organization has grown that the candidate have strategies for migrating data, and automating processes, this can include programming or using tools to improve processes. Has experience creating star schema or snowflake schema data models in a secure and scalable manner.
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide tables, views, stored procedures, and functions to facilitate data use by reporting software and other applications.
  • Assist users with data requests and queries, provide guidance on query tuning for queries that perform poorly.
  • Employ secure and scalable data modeling processes.
  • Layout Application and Data Frameworks following the Well Architected Framework.
  • Manage database resources in the cloud, and manage the costs associated with them.
  • Write, update, and manage documentation on the database environment.
  • Add, update, and remove users from the database servers.
  • Ability to migrate data from same or dissimilar database platforms, such as migrating from MySQL to PostgreSQL, or MySQL to MySQL.
  • Design, build, and maintain data lake pipelines.
  • Support monthly billing operations.
  • Support new building construction operations through configuration loading, database creation, data validation, troubleshooting.
  • Extract, analyze and interpret large amounts of data from a range of sources, using algorithmic, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistical tools, to make it accessible to business.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Computer Information Systems/Computer Science) or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years production database administration experience with any of the following databases: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong data source analysis skills to locate data and business rules.
  • Experience delivering solutions and insights on the Microsoft Azure platform with exposure to Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL DB, Power BI or Azure ADLS Gen2.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools in GitHub/Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with Data Modeling – Dimension and Facts tables, snowflake schema.
  • Experience with Agile process methodology, CI/CD automation.
  • Experience in Tableau, Power BI or SQL Server Reporting Services is a plus.
  • Experience developing in Python, Java, C# is a plus.
  • Proven to be highly accurate and detailed in all tasks.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Logical process thinking and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, evolving environment and contribute promptly.

  • Travel is expected to be less than 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
Additional Information
  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $115,000 base plus bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
