DevOps Specialist – Data Engineering & Observability platform
Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join us as a DevOps – Data Platform Engineering at Swift in the Netherlands. As a Senior DevOps/SRE expert in our Observability and Analytics Cluster within the Tooling Services organization, you will have the opportunity to lead and mentor a team of engineers operating and growing usage of our Service Observability Platform. You will foster collaboration with our delivery teams across de globe, drive towards further excellence in the management of our data platform, and make a substantial impact in our rapidly growing company.
In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to enhance the resilience, recovery time and security our Observability Platform. As a member of the Run Squad in our Observability cluster, you will work closely with various teams and individuals across the globe towards Operational Excellence .
Responsibilities:
- Coach and mentor more junior engineers, providing technical assistance, and coordinating knowledge transfer. You will play a crucial role in crafting the success of the team.
- Develop and uphold industry-leading engineering practices to assist in fulfilling squad objectives. Your expertise will play a crucial role in optimally completing projects and attaining outstanding outcomes.
- Apply your DevOps expertise to accelerate the evolution of our Observability Platform, specifically focusing on system availability, resilience, and self-service. Your technical prowess will help us stay at the forefront of innovation.
- Optimize infrastructure pipelines for performance, scalability, and resiliency, leveraging Ansible and configuration as code best practices.
- Build and maintain applications (Java) to expose observability data for advanced usage
We are searching for professional Data Engineers who are highly proficient in DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, and Ansible and have proven hands-on experience managing and ELK stack(Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana). Detailed knowledge of RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Kafka is needed. While a degree in a relevant field is vital, we recognize that equivalent experience can be just as valuable. Demonstrated success in implementing and/or supporting data engineering platforms is a must for this position.
Requirements:
- 4 or 5-year university degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience. A strong educational foundation will ensure you have the necessary skills to excel in this role.
- Strong experience in designing implementing and running DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD and infrastructure as code (advanced Ansible, RHEL, Git, Jenkins).
- Proven experience in operating large on-premises infrastructures (compute, storage and network)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
- Exposure to data engineering, with a focus on crafting and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes using ELK stack (ELK data engineer certification is a plus).
- Previous experience in a leading engineering resource is an asset. Your experience in an Agile environment will allow you to seamlessly integrate into our team.
- Strong collaboration skills required to work effectively with both local and remote teams across various time zones. Your capacity to collaborate across different time zones will greatly contribute to the success of our team.
