Job Function
The Digital Literacy and Reference Librarian shapes the ongoing planning, development, and implementation of technology initiatives in support of the mission of the library through collaborative efforts with campus departments and partners; shares in providing in-person and virtual research services; promotes, develops, and delivers general and course-specific instruction, and provides expertise and direction for original and copy cataloging of library holdings in digital, print, and multimedia formats to optimize user discovery and access to resources in the library collection.
Job Responsibilities
- Identifies and collaborates with relevant campus partners in creating sustainable technology practices
- Monitors trends in emerging technologies and recommends and/or implements initiatives as appropriate.
- Provides in-person and/or virtual reference services and information literacy instruction.
- Evaluates print and online resources to develop and maintain relevant collections.
- Creates and maintains subject guides, tutorials, and other digital learning objects to aid in library resource discoverability
- Performs original cataloging in all bibliographic and physical formats, following national standards and guidelines
- Upgrades minimal level records and records with missing bibliographic components
- Oversees and implements special cataloging projects
- Troubleshoots issues related to proper record display and accessibility in the integrated library system
- Engages in professional development and continuing education activities
- Serves on library and college committees, as well as affiliated network library consortiums
- Provides support concerning OER/ZTC and AI/digital literacy to faculty.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education
MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program or non-U.S. equivalent. Degree required at the time of employment
