The Director of Data Science is responsible for leading the Red Bull North America (RBNA) Data Science team and delivering the most exciting data-driven initiatives for our market. In this role you will be responsible for partnering with business leaders to help enable the long-term strategy, development and execution to optimize the use and value of data solutions across the organization. This includes becoming a trusted partner to the business and building a team that can translate business questions into analytical problems and for deploying models into production that support ongoing decision-making.
We’re looking for someone with a solid experience of managing applied statistics, machine-learning and analytics projects who can also interface directly with senior stakeholders in the business and be the outward face of the Data Science department.
To be successful in this role you must have a bias to action and a passion for being a stakeholder and contributor to overall business strategy. You should feel strongly about measuring the results of Data Science efforts and for challenging the status quo when necessary.
Job Description
SHAPE DATA STRATEGY
- Lead the development and execution of Data strategy for North America and be a key RBNA
representative for the global Data Supply Chain vision - Take an active innovation role in the company by bringing new techniques and approaches to
opportunities within the RBNA business - Guide approach for building predictive models, content valuation, and investment
- Act as a driver to understand challenges within our Marketing and Sales organizations and propose
solutions that help enable growth and drive revenue
LEAD THE DATA SCIENCE TEAM
- Responsible for leading, coaching and developing a best-in-class Data Science team
- Lead a team focused on the building of models using internal data in combination with various external
datasets (e.g., survey data) to drive marketing and sales activity
BE A TRUSTED PARTNER
- Act as a partner and liaison to the Red Bull North America team with the ability to communicate local
challenges and opportunities to global Data Science Stakeholders for alignment and support - Synthesize complex, technical concepts and outputs into compelling story lines that resonate with a
variety of technical and non-technical audiences - Collaborate closely with the IT and Engineering teams to shape the continued development of the Data
Science platform and tool ecosystem
DELIVER VALUE WITH DATA
- In partnership with the Global Data Science strategy, share knowledge, debate techniques, and conduct
research to advance the collective knowledge and skills of our Data Science practice for the RBNA
business - Deploy data products to production and measure the value once done
- Act as a force-multiplier by educating, connecting, and empowering the wider Data community at Red
Bull with the right tools, skill, and data
Qualifications
- 12+ years’ relevant work experience
- 7+ years’ experience leading and scaling teams of data scientists
- Robust, fundamental expertise in areas of statistical methods, distributed computing, machine learning, AI, and/or a variety of open-source programming languages
- Flexibility to operate across technologies and ability to work on complex large-scale projects
Strong programming skills (R, SQL, Python
