JOB TITLE – DIRECTOR OF ANALYTICS, PARCEL ANALYTICS AND SPEED-TO-FAN

Key Responsibilities:

  • Parcel Spend Optimization: Lead the development and execution of analytics strategies to optimize parcel spend across multiple carriers and regions, focusing on cost efficiency without compromising service levels. Drive continuous improvements in parcel contract negotiations, carrier performance, and route optimization.
  • Speed to Fan Optimization: Analyze and improve delivery speed performance by leveraging data to streamline last-mile logistics, reduce transit times, and enhance overall speed to the customer. Work closely with operations teams to optimize delivery networks and reduce bottlenecks in the final stages of delivery.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Develop and implement advanced analytics, statistical models, and forecasting tools to predict and optimize parcel costs, delivery timelines, and service levels. Provide actionable insights on parcel performance and cost trends to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Carrier Performance & Benchmarking: Lead efforts to evaluate and benchmark carrier performance based on key metrics such as cost per package, delivery speed, on-time delivery rates, and customer satisfaction. Identify opportunities to improve carrier relationships and improve operational performance.
  • Last-Mile Logistics Optimization: Partner with last-mile logistics teams to analyze delivery routes, capacity, and carrier networks to improve efficiency. Utilize machine learning, optimization models, and route planning tools to recommend best practices for parcel distribution and fleet management.
  • Strategic Analytics & Reporting: Create and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to provide visibility into key performance metrics such as parcel spend, on-time delivery, delivery speed, cost-to-serve, and customer satisfaction. Present findings and strategic recommendations to executives and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with finance, supply chain, customer service, and technology teams to ensure alignment on parcel spend management, delivery speed targets, and last-mile logistics optimization. Influence key business decisions by providing data-backed recommendations.
  • Parcel Technology & Automation: Leverage emerging technologies and automation tools to enhance parcel analytics capabilities, improve cost management, and optimize the last-mile delivery experience. Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations in logistics and parcel technology.
  • Customer Experience Focus: Ensure that analytics initiatives align with the overall customer experience strategy by balancing speed to the customer with cost considerations. Utilize customer feedback, performance data, and market trends to refine delivery strategies and improve satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of analysts and logistics experts. Provide guidance on complex data problems, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and develop team members’ analytical skills and business acumen.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in supply chain analytics, logistics optimization, or eCommerce operations, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing last-mile logistics or parcel analytics for a large-scale eCommerce business. Extensive experience managing parcel spend in a high-volume environment.
  • Logistics Expertise: Deep understanding of last-mile logistics, parcel carriers, route optimization, delivery networks, and transportation management systems (TMS). Proven success in optimizing parcel spend and improving delivery speed and service levels.
  • Advanced Analytics: Expertise in data analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques to drive optimization in logistics, parcel spend, and speed to customer. Experience with optimization algorithms, predictive modeling, and scenario planning for logistics.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in analytics and business intelligence tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI), with a solid understanding of supply chain management software and transportation management systems. Experience with AI/ML tools for optimization is a plus.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience managing large budgets (parcel spend of hundreds of millions of dollars) and a strong ability to drive cost-effective decisions while balancing service levels and operational goals.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, driving alignment across finance, operations, IT, and customer service to optimize logistics performance and parcel spend.
  • Problem Solving & Innovation: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of driving operational improvements and implementing creative solutions to complex logistics challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights to senior executives and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable way.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
