Director of Data Operations (reporting to Chief Data Officer)

Role

Our Data Acquisition operation is responsible for ingesting a wide range of publicly available data and extracting relevant facts from that data to power ComplyAdvantage’s Financial Crime Intelligence Products. We are looking for an experienced, director level candidate to manage this operation and lead it through a period of change.

Our medium-term objective is to deliver 10x the throughput with roughly the same team size. To achieve this the Dir Data Ops will need to manage the team through a period of new technology implementation and associated process changes, whilst continuing to ensure the integrity of the day-to-day operation.

The Director of Data Operations will have experience of being a senior employee, ideally in an operation which is offshore from the Company HQ. THis role reports into the Chief Data Officer, who is based in London.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the output of a team of ~50 Data Acquisition and Quality specialists (currently organised as four teams, each with a manager)
  • Hiring, performance management, budgeting, career development etc. 
  • Ensuring that appropriate operational targets are set and metrics are used to track performance, taking remedial action where required.
  • Ensuring that clear processes are in place, documented and followed. Continuous improvement of these processes towards hitting operational goals.
  • Working closely with the data leadership team and senior colleagues in Product and Engineering to agree goals and priorities, and managing the delivery of the resulting roadmap. 
  • Managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers
  • Act as a member of the senior data leadership team, helping drive the data strategy for ComplyAdvantage as a company

Experience

  • You have experience of leading a large and diverse team; preferably as a 2nd line leader
  • You thrive on change and have partnered cross functionally with multiple departments to ensure effective change management
  • You can focus on maintaining the integrity of day to day operations whilst navigating process and technology changes 
  • You enjoy being a culture advocate; creating a space where all employees feel involved and engaged
  • You are a self started that demonstrates a high level of initiative and autonomy
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal in Romanian and English
