Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Environment & Data Manager to join us. Legal & General is at the start of a journey to deliver a new global head office in London. Sustainability will be at the forefront of the design and operational delivery of the building. The role holder will shape and help drive our environmental initiatives and strategy across the London location project.
We are looking for someone with holistic knowledge of sustainable procurement strategies, energy efficiency and management, energy/carbon compliance requirements and current trends for the decarbonisation of the built environment. The right person will be interested in researching and learning about new technologies related to energy, water and waste management and nature & biodiversity and their implementation to deliver on operational environmental targets. In addition, the candidate should be analytically minded and comfortable with manipulating, analysing and reviewing large sets of data for various stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:

Be the key point of contact for all environment/sustainability issues relating to the London location project

Managing the wider project team on all issues relating to the environment / sustainability including Project Manager, Sustainability consultant, architect, landlord and facilities management company

Provision of advice to P&W’s team and associated partners on a wide range of environmental topics e.g. sustainable procurement, energy/waste management and biodiversity to ensure that the team are equipped to meet our policy, procedure and legal requirements

Undertake ongoing monitoring of the achievement of our Group and P&W commitments and targets, collate data and develop reports to provide regular updates on level of achievement

Develop the understanding of employees across the Group with regards to environmental risks, opportunities and commitments mainly associated with the London project through the development and management of appropriate communication tools (e.g. hub, local news letters and forums etc)

Develop, shape and deliver our environmental strategy across the L&G Group, with particular focus on P&W to ensure that we meet our policy and legal compliance requirements as well are the environmental ambition of the board
- Monitor regulatory developments as they apply to the build environment with an assessment of implications for the department and Group to ensure L&G comply with current and future regulation

Work closely with M&E consultant to ensure adherence to net zero targets
Qualifications
Who we’re looking for:
- Experience of leading and contributing to similar built environment projects with ambitious environmental targets and strategy
- Deep and clear understanding of the environmental impacts and opportunities linked to building fit out and subsequent operations e.g. material specifications and energy management options
- Practical experience delivering operational energy savings within existing buildings
- Ability to conduct data-driven environmental analysis, research and management
- Knowledge and awareness of general environmental topics relating specifically to the built environment, sustainability reporting and certification, landlord engagement, ISO14001 & ISO50001
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, regulation, certifications, and the wider sustainability agenda
- Strong communication and presentation skills are essential
- Ability to influence others
