Role Description
Based in New York City, International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) is a multibillion-dollar, Fortune 500 global creator of flavors, fragrances and specialty ingredients and solutions used in a wide variety of consumer products and packaged goods for the Food & Beverage, Home & Personal Care and Health & Wellness markets.
As part of the Global Business Intelligence (BI) group, this role will work within the largest business division in the company, Nourish, and on one of the most dynamic teams reporting into the Chief Growth Officer. This role will report directly to the Global Business Intelligence Lead, influence major decisions made within the organization and engage directly with the senior management team across business units.
The BI group is responsible for being the ‘center of truth’, providing value-added insights and executive-level strategic reporting. This role will be responsible for directly supporting the business by (1) developing new tools/processes that synthesize inputs from multiple data sources to create efficiencies and (2) executing advance analytics requests and strategic analysis across several areas (Customers, Categories, Regions, Competitors, including external market factors such as channel trends, market analysis, and other macroeconomic factors). For example, this role could be pulled in to improve our customer analytics to track innovation and category performance, build competitive intelligence across business product segments, or identify new market whitespace. The candidate will work cross-functionally with key teams – from finance to marketing to commercial to IT – as the needs of the business demand.
The candidate must be comfortable managing large and variable data sets, creative enough to develop relationships between data sets, and adept at obtaining data from a wide variety of data sources and deriving useful conclusions and insights. This role will directly contribute to developing and expanding IFF’s analytical capabilities by applying data science to investigate strategic opportunities and building tools, solutions, reports, and recommendations that enable improved decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Independently lead strategic projects end-to-end, from data mining and analysis to building executive-ready presentations
- Responsible for the ongoing discovery, management, maintenance, and analysis of data and insights concerning markets, customers, competitors, products, and market potentials, both current and projected
- Utilize various databases and querying/programming languages to access, manipulate, and distill data inputs while continuously improving and refining data transformation techniques to enhance data quality
- Apply data visualization and storytelling to clearly and concisely articulate the drivers and “whys” behind the results, including what the data means for a specific audience
- Run ad-hoc analyses/reports to help drive key projects and business initiatives forward
- Maintain all major 3rd party data contracts and account relationships
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge (e.g., VBA lookups, automation/macros, extensions a plus)
- Ability to draw meaningful insights from large, disparate datasets
- Strong financial acumen and Microsoft PowerPoint skills
- Experience managing large data sets and complex reporting systems, including quality assurance
- Experience with visualization software (e.g., Power BI)
- Familiarity with business tools (e.g., SAP, Salesforce)
- Familiarity with syndicated data sources
- Programming language knowledge for data analytics preferred (e.g., SQL, R, Python, or equivalent)
- Food & Beverage industry knowledge a plus (incl. Flavors and/or Specialty Ingredients) but not required
- Highly motivated with a passion for numbers, accuracy, and detail
Required Experience:
- Prior work experience in business intelligence /data analytics role (or Data Analytics certificate/program equivalent) or management consulting or similar
- A 4-year bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, mathematics, economics, finance, engineering, or similar

Job Location: This position is based in South Brunswick, NJ. It offers flexibility with remote work arrangements, allowing candidates to work from various locations. However, occasional visits to the office may be required. Candidates based anywhere in the United States are encouraged to apply.
