As a core member of the Sun Life Health team, reporting to AVP, Health Data Science and Analytics, you will engage with Sun Life Health stakeholders to mature and scale our data and analytics platforms to support our health data science and analytics strategy. You are a technical driven product manager with extensive health data background responsible for driving the evolution of our health data platform, and the delivery of data products. You are passionate about driving change and can deliver it in highly matrixed organizations.

What will you do?

  • Health Data Platform (HDP) Roadmap: Collaborate with Health Solutions, Data & Analytics, Data Architecture, Legal, Risk and Compliance, and Technology teams to drive the target state design and roadmap for the health data platform, including:

    • Articulating requirements and clearly communicating them across stakeholders.

    • Synthesizing findings into platform architecture, data model, data product and process options for stakeholders and driving to achieve consensus on the HDP roadmap.

    • Maintaining the platform roadmaps, specifications, and priorities and supporting the communication of our existing and future data platform capabilities.

  • HDP Functional Improvements: Collaborate with the relevant teams across Sun Life to help implement the HDP roadmap to enable new health data capabilities through:

    • Representing Sun Life Health Data Science and Analytics in the relevant technology product and implementation teams

    • Communicating updates, timelines, progress and areas of risk across stakeholders.

    • Facilitating the implementation of data governance, quality and management processes that support the desired HDP functionalities.

  • Health Data Products: Manage data products throughout their lifecycle, from acquisition strategy to data product provisioning ensuring that stakeholder needs are met, and internal and external partners are managed throughout the process. This includes:

    • Running intake and prioritization for implementing new data integrations and data products to support evolving or net new use cases.

    • Working effectively with stakeholders to define data requirements.

    • Collaborating with the relevant business groups, data, technology, operations, and compliance teams to enable new data integrations and the deployment of new data products.

    • Managing the data integration and the data product release processes, ensuring that new features and enhancements are delivered on time and meet quality standards.

    • Collaborating with data analytics and technology partners to leverage common capabilities, tools and assets. 

  • Be an active contributing member to the analytics community to help foster and grow the data and analytics capabilities at Sun Life

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in technology or computer science related field.

  • 3+ years of product management experience focused on data products and platforms.

  • A proven track record of building data pipeline products that solve business problems – preferably in healthcare.

  • Strong familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g. FHIR) and formats.

  • Familiarity in deploying data products in a mesh environment is an asset.

  • Understanding of technical infrastructure to support analytics and data science solutions. 

  • Demonstrated ability in bringing structure to complex problems and breaking them down into tangible elements.

  • Proven track record in driving clarity and momentum in collaborative projects using clear communication, goal setting and structured thinking that keep pushing your partners towards decisions and action.

  • Effective and concise oral and written storytelling and insights communication skills with demonstrated ability to tailor communications to technical and business audiences.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
