Informatics Data Science Manager
Job Description
Reporting to the Ware Manufacturing site’s Strategy and Business Change Director, this role is responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary team of data science experts who are focused on the delivery of Product and Process data solutions to the site. Their responsibilities extend to information management, data analytics and data insight (in support of the data lifecycle management) for New Product Introductions (NPI) through to commercial manufacture.
Team size is circa 6 people (and may include interim as well as permanent staff).
Key elements of the role include;

Managing the informatics Data Science team (ensuring ongoing coaching, training, and development of team-members meets the expectations and requirements of the Informatics Data Science Roles).

Define and implement innovative data solutions and data quality improvements using product scientific, Global Supply Chain operations, and process performance data (including the design, construction and implementation of new automated data processes, data marts, reports, data visualisations, etc) to accelerate the Introduction of New Products (NPI) and product transfer data.

Implementation of product performance process improvements, through root cause analysis and change management

Ensure deployment of sustainable data solutions in compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), related requirements, aligned with GSK and CMC data strategy to contribute to zero waste/zero defect.

Collaborate and influence business stake-holders to gather suitably structured information and ensure data is freely available (to aid /drive data use and data-based decision making).
Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the recruitment (including the DDA apprentices) and management of the Informatics Data Science team, to maintain and enhance DDA capability in support of both Global Supply Chain (GSC), Medicines Development and Supply (MDS) and the Ware OnePharma Campus.

Ensures Informatics capability at the Ware site is sustained for current and future requirements.

Responsible for influencing continuous improvement by improving or reducing the complexity of data processes, including implementing new or alternative business processes to maximise the business benefit.

Act as the business expert for the development, deployment and or migration to new system and business processes (ensuring common standards are defined and adopted).

Responsible for key data improvement projects i.e. design /development / pilot and deployment of local systems, data tools / processes to facilitate the use and interpretation of data.

Ensures that all data activities are planned, resourced, and completed on time, and in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.

Collaborates with key stakeholders and partners (Medicines Development and Supply, Quality, MSAT, Tech) to ensure that the data and reporting infrastructure is fit for purpose.

Contributes to the wider Informatics network, ensuring that best practices are incorporated into the local ways of working, maintaining a data science knowledge base to ensure requirements of the site are considered in the development and roll out of global solutions.

Support external and internal audits/inspections as required, and all relevant compliance requirements with particular focus on data integrity.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to be instrumental in developing and delivering the Ware Site’s future factory strategy. You will be working at the forefront of digital transformation within GSK, in a high-profile role with senior stake-holder involvement. As this role is multi-faceted and includes consulting with a wide variety of stakeholders (including on-site production and operations teams), you must be a highly self-motivated person who has strong experience of personally delivering projects and initiatives in complex manufacturing situations. You will be resilient and calm under pressure, with strong people management skills and a proven ability to influence people to achieve and drive performance. You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset and be hands-on in your approach. A firm grasp of strategy and vision must be complemented by an ability to get things done.
About Ware Manufacturing Site:
Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms.

Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Pharmaceutical, Biological or Computer Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering, or another related subject with a high numeracy content.

Experience of managing multidisciplinary team, problem solving, managing complex process improvements for data analytics and or programming /coding and Statistics.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in managerial role within in a Data Science, Pharmaceutical Development or Manufacturing environment – with an emphasis on data analytics or MSc/Meng or Data Science Post Graduate Degree.

A broad experience of proven delivery within the Pharmaceutical or related industry, direct experience within technical roles, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, excellent communication skills (oral and written).
