Internship – Business Intelligence & Analytics Engineer
Job Description
Introduction
ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers – the world’s leading chipmakers – to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.
This internship will be on-site at the San Diego campus for 12 weeks in summer 2025. Applicants mut be enrolled in a program through at least fall 2025.
Job Mission
US CDO (Chief Data office) supplies the business domains with data, analytics and foundational services that enable their business analytics capabilities. The mission of this position is to extend and sustain the ASML enterprise / business process data foundation to enable business benefits and improvement that support our business growth and new requirements in business insight, business capabilities, and integration as well as technical data volume, data processing, and trusted data enablement.
Job Description
- Working at the intersection of data science and software engineering, helping bring our knowledge graph to life.
- Having basic engineering skills in or interest in learning at the level of prototyping and experimentation. Preferably with an interest in front-end engineering
- Having experience in or interest in learning about graphs and the algorithms and models that leverage them.
- Discuss with the analysis requestor for understand clearly the analysis required and the mode of delivery.
- Communicate the results both verbally and written.
- Developing and managing business intelligence solutions for the organization
- Providing reports to improve business processes
- Collaborating with team members for the purpose of collecting data and executing the company’s mission
- Analyzing business requirements and processes and recommending them to the management and executives for implementation
- Creating and maintaining documentation that includes the design, requirements and user manuals for the organization
- Identifying the development needs for the purpose of streamlining and improving the operations of the organization for efficiency and profitability
- Work with department technical lead on the analysis method and tools for specific projects.
- Timely technical risk assessments
- Actively participate in relevant Scrum and SAFe rituals and take part in continuous journey toward a more agile organization
- Interns will typically be required to document and present their findings as well as making an end of summer presentation to the group about what they achieved during their internship
Education and Experience

Studying towards a Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics and Data Analytics, Operations Management and Analysis, or equivalent technical domain.
- Required technical skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Have exposure to knowledge graph and how to visualize and query it.
- Use computing languages (Python, R, JavaScript, React, Tableau) to manipulate and visualize data.
- Curiosity about data and a passion for finding answers hidden in data sets.
- Have knowledge of basic engineering principles to help deploy the prototypes.
- Working knowledge of data science, data mining, database management and programming, business process modeling and analysis
- Working knowledge of statistical computing and graphics programming languages
- Working knowledge of Cloud computing (Azure preferred)

Role within the Factory – standard if they will be working in the FAB, Lab, clean room, mfg. area, etc.
Responsibilities
- Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Can work under deadlines.
- The environment generally is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.
- This must include references to day and night shifts for accommodation purposes.
