Our Pricing team is a collaborative global team of pricing analysts and actuaries tasked with building a complete and consistent view of risk for inwards transactions across the organisation. We work closely with underwriting teams to deliver accurate and insightful analysis alongside the development of loss estimates for individual transactions. From analysing large datasets to developing bespoke methodologies, we are responsible for handling a wide range of tasks with precision, expertise, and professionalism. Emphasizing teamwork, continuous learning, and innovation, we stay at the forefront of industry best practices to adapt to changing market dynamics.

About the Position

This role is responsible for assisting in the evaluation and pricing of reinsurance opportunities for the Zurich platform. The role is based in the Zurich office with travel possible within Europe for inter-office, broker, and client meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop foundational understanding of (re)insurance business (underlying insurance classes, reinsurance contracts, reinsurance structures, and the deal cycle)
  • Understand data requirements for determining view of risk for reinsurance treaties, and assist the wider underwriting team in liaising with clients and brokers to ensure data quality provided for individual reinsurance treaties is sufficient for correct risk evaluation
  • Learn how to use RenaissanceRe’s proprietary pricing software for the correct modelling of reinsurance structures
  • Assist in evaluating risk over a broad range of deals, using various exposure and experience rating techniques, while ensuring consistency with the global pricing team’s pricing methodologies
  • Communicate the results of data and pricing analyses clearly to underwriters and senior members of the pricing team
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of RenaissanceRe’s proprietary modelling and continuing development of its pricing platform
  • Enhance internal view of risk through model parameterization reviews. Track industry trends, engage with data aggregators, and generally enhance the group’s knowledge of market characteristics, utilizing relevant proprietary and publicly available data

Candidate Qualifications:

  • A university degree with emphasis on mathematics, statistics, economics, finance or a similar scientific field
  • Interest towards an actuarial qualification, e.g. FCAS, SAV, FIA, or similar
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Communicate effectively, both in verbal and written form
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Programming knowledge (Python, SQL) an advantage
  • Fluent in English, with French, German, and other European languages an advantage
