Job Description

Role Purpose

Junior data analysts play a crucial role in helping the make informed decisions based on data insights.

The main purpose of a junior data analyst is to support data analysis activities within the Bank. Below are the key responsibilities:
1. Data Collection and Cleaning: Gathering data from various sources and ensuring its accuracy and usability.
2. Data Analysis: Using statistical and analytical methods to identify patterns and trends in the data.
3. Reporting and Visualization: Creating reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
4. Collaboration: Working with senior analysts and Data engineers to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions.
5. Continuous Learning: Staying updated with the latest data analysis tools and techniques

Education and experience required:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in banking and financial services.
  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • Experience with the delivery of high-priority projects and activities, under pressurized conditions.
  • Highly proficient in SQL

Technical Skill Required:

  • Knowledge of Data Analyst, Data science or Data Engineer
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, Azure and Python.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools e.g. PowerBI.
  • Data modelling
  • Working with large datasets and moving of files between different environments.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Process automation and monitoring.
  • Analyse trends within the business data to reduce risks and optimize performance.
  • Data Migration knowledge
  • Data profiling
  • Data Cleansing
  • Use statistical techniques to create models.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Key responsibilities but not limited to:

Finance

  • Designing and developing reports, automating processes.
  • Build financial reports, utilise advanced features for data visualisation and analysis
  • Utilise API integration to enhance reporting capabilities and streamline data retrieval.
  • Design and creation of data solutions and integration points.
  • Analyse and improve workflows through process automation.
  • Script in Python to create efficient workflows.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends related to data warehousing.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization of data warehouse solutions.
  • Preparation of data for the budgeting process models.
  • Assisting the operational teams with understanding and interpreting the data presented to complete their process.
  • Participate in the testing and validation of data warehouse solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and adhere to data quality standards.
  • Identify and address issues related to data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document detailed requirements for data warehouse projects.
  • Understand and analyse business processes to identify data-related needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Make recommendations to improve data and analytics systems and platforms, contributing to the continuous improvement and refinement of data and analytics strategy.
  • Assist in the design and development of data models that support business requirements.
  • Collaborate with data architects and data engineers to create logical and physical data models for the data warehouse.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data warehouse requirements, data models, and processes.
  • Ensure documentation is kept up-to-date and readily available for reference by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Profile data to assist with Data Quality Management

Customer Centricity

  • Develop and manage reporting within the business units.
  • Develop business intelligent reporting to support business growth and focus.
  • Provide strategic support to all Bank business units in delivering on their outputs impacting on all business data requirements.
  • Analyse and understand each business units’ unique requirements to best solve for their needs.
  • Continuously engage with all stakeholders to ensure all requirements are clear and achievable.
  • Ensure correct stakeholders have access to their relevant information.
  • Maintain strong and positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues as well as direct reports.

Operational Excellence

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the project and business stakeholders to develop an understanding of business strategy and objective and identify implications to define the data modelling goals for the designated areas.
  • Analyse data across multiple systems and formats to provide analytics and information that provides integrated views necessary for project outcomes and deliver for the business and the customer.
  • Coordination and execution of the end-to-end data management process
  • Ensure Analytics models, business models and Reporting processes to supports all stakeholder requirements.
  • Implementation of controls to mitigate process weaknesses.
  • Continuously enhance processes as the Business Insight function evolves.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover patterns, trends, and insights in customer behaviour. Translate and interpret data into actionable insights and direction for recommendations, customer solutions, customer centricity and other business units.
  • Working closely with vendors and It teams to acquire and convert data into meaningful information and insights for end users that deliver value to the business.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports on customer engagement, customer behaviour and other key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide data-driven insights to support business objectives.
  • Liaise with the Lead and stakeholders to understand business requirement for specific programmes/projects.
  • Work with IT to ensure that related applications, tools and severs are optimally utilised and upgraded or downgraded as necessary.
  • Work with latest visualisation tools and technologies to provide the business with meaningful analytics that is easily interpretable and enables decision making.
