Job Description

We’re seeking a Junior Data Engineer passionate about building robust, scalable data products. Your role will involve assisting in the creation and maintenance of our data architecture, and collaborating with software engineers, product managers, business intelligence analysts and marketing managers to support StashAway’s continued growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of the infrastructure for StashAway’s data streaming, processing, and storage.
  • Help create tools for effective maintenance and monitoring of the data infrastructure.
  • Contribute to data pipeline architecture decisions and assist in the implementation of initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to develop scalable, performant solutions for their data needs, including extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources.
  • Support the team’s data capabilities – share knowledge, enforce best practices, and promote data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure data quality through continuous improvement and monitoring.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Self-starter, curious and motivated learner
  • Good quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
  • Basic knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • Basic knowledge of big data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop, Spark)
  • Experience in object-oriented programming and/or functional programming is a plus
  • Good collaboration skills for effective stakeholder engagement
  • Good communication skills, business intuition, and the ability to understand complex business issues
  • Sense of ownership and accountability in delivering high quality work
