The Opportunity:
This position is responsible for managing Oracle database clusters across geographically different data centers. Ensure availability, scalability, and uptime requirements of database services are clearly understood and addressed. Evaluate progress and results of development efforts. Preserve the integrity and design of the databases to support mission-critical databases necessary for business operations. Under minimal supervision, produce deliverables in alignment with the overall Transformation program demonstrating mastery skills in the area of sub-specialization.

 

You are great at:
•        Provide proactive knowledge and act as an escalation point for Engineering, Service Support, and Service Delivery.
•        Resolve database issues & incidents within SLA in support of database operations.
•        Proactively work with vendors & providers on issues identified in products and chase issues until successful resolution.
•        Independently implement approved medium and large-scale projects that align towards service and departmental goals.
•        Coordinate and manage all aspects of database implementation.
•        Oversee the direction, development, and implementation of database software solutions.
•        Participate in the design of new databases, forecasts, and strategies.
•        Manage design sessions within areas of specialization.
•        Manage the delivery of solutions within the area of specialization or independently design and implement complex solutions.
•        Manage solution offerings to solve complex integrated business problems.
•        Manage relationships with counterparts including functional owners or work streams
•        Manage the timely resolution of issues within work stream counterparts including functional owners 
•        Own technology solutions within the respective areas of sub expertise including overall design, key decisions, and relations with business owners.
•        Liaise with company’s database suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
•        Provide guidance and support to the enterprise, and act as a single point of contact for DBA-related issues.
•        Coordinate with systems admin, network engineering, and other teams towards availability, reliability, and scalability of database environments
•        Recommend and execute modifications to database infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
•        Keep current with related technologies and releases.
•        Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
•        Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
•        Carry off-hours escalation as part of a pager-rotation shift or an emergency with 10 minutes of Response Time.     
•        Manage the timely resolution of issues within the workstream ensuring completeness and quality of all deliverables
•        Ensure adherence to corporate policies and standards to meet compliances, availability, and disaster recovery, acting as an escalation point for project team members to provide issue resolution.
•        Own technology solutions within the respective areas of sub expertise including overall design, key decisions, and relations with business owners.
•        Recommend and execute modifications to database infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
•        Document technology deployments by creating Standard Operating Procedures, and training guides. Train coworkers and other members of Operations staff.
•        Train new hires & NOC engineers on technology implementation and ensure quick onboarding of new hires.

 

What it takes:
•        BE in CS/EE with a minimum of 8 years of experience as hands-on an Oracle DBA.
•        Excellent understanding of Oracle technologies and related products/technologies. 
•        OCP certification (Preferred)
•        Must have worked in services with 99.995% or more uptime/SLA.
•        Worked in services requiring 10 minutes of Response Time to Incidents including experience in carrying on-call rotation pager.
•        Experience in handling OLTP DB Performance issues and tuning the DB execution.
•        Must have worked on database systems with more than 50TB Oracle RAC.
•        Working experience with Oracle 11g,12c & 19c RAC DB env.
•        Oracle Grid Control implementation and data collection
•        Hands-on implementing experience with Golden Gate, DataGuard, and troubleshooting.
•        Experience in setting monitoring including Enterprise Grid Control.
•        Must have working experience with scripting and automation.
•        Good understanding of Linux and Windows OS. 
•        Experience in setting monitoring of databases and related technologies.
•        Knowledge of MSSQL, Postgre, and MySql databases will be an advantage.
•        Proven experience in database infrastructure planning and development.
•        Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
•        Ability to present ideas related to Business requirements aligned with Database setup.
•        Knowledge or Hands on in Pubic cloud technologies – GCP, AWS, Azure & so on.
•        Knowledge or Hands on in Opensource RDBMS Mongo, Terraform, Cassandra, Postgres, MySQL & so on.
•        Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
•        Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
•        Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure IT Operations environment.
•        Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal abilities.
•        Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
•        Strong understanding of the organization’s goals, and objectives and adhering to process.
•        Experience in leading DB Team with Training New Hire with DBA skills and related IT processes.
