Job Title – Lead Consultant – Enterprise Integration Architect

Our Global Enterprise Architect (GEA) Team is responsible for the global development of AstraZeneca Integration/ API products, such as Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, SnapLogic, MuleSoft, CloudAMQP, Amazon Glue, and a range of other technologies like Qlik, Fivetran, Talend and many others. We work closely with teams across Business Technology Group (BTG – Business Unit) IT teams, Research and development, data governance teams, and SET Area (Line of Business) & Data Offices (SEDO).Moreover, the GEA thinks about enterprise Integration architectures with a focus on enterprise API/ Gateway/ Streaming architecture, information architecture, data modelling, and data analysis. Our global enterprise data architecture (EAIA) practice is part of the GEA. We offer essential designs, patterns, reference architecture and framework and services that deal with the ingestion, extraction, processing, transformation, transport, storage, data visualization, data security and representation of data, and the analysis and modelling of our key data and facts. We build the core elements of the data world for AstraZeneca across our global customer businesses. We use advanced methods, with a focus on enterprise data architecture, data architecture, data modelling, data analysis, data governance, data integration, data security, data our global enterprise AI architect (EAIA) practice is part of the GEA. We offer essential services that relate to the new pharmaceutical innovation and drug discovery, and representation of data, and the analysis and modelling of our key AI and facts.We build the core elements of the Integration and data world for AstraZeneca across our global customer businesses. We lead on enterprise-level, cross-organizational data architecture, for example around the definition and delivery of AI Products and alignment with AI platform and FAIR AI thinking across our businesses. We use leading thinking, processes, and methods to achieve lasting results for projects and business-as-usual working. 

 

Typical Accountabilities 

 

Enterprise Integration Architecture Accountabilities: 

  •  Design and develop scalable API solutions. 

  •  Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business analysts. 

  •  Set best practices, guidelines, and standards for API development. 

  •  Ensure APIs are secure, efficient, and easy to use. 

  •  Troubleshoot and resolve API performance issues. 

  •  Maintain and update API documentation. 

  •  Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to development teams. 

  •  Monitor API usage and performance metrics. 

  •  Implement API versioning and lifecycle management. 

  •  Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies. 

  •  Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers. 

  •  Work closely with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment. 

  •  Participate in architectural discussions and decisions. 

  •  Develop and maintain API testing strategies. 

  •  Ensure compliance with data protection regulations. 

  •  Optimize API performance and scalability. 

  •  Manage API gateways and related infrastructure. 

  •  Coordinate with third-party vendors and partners. 

  •  Develop and implement API security measures. 

  •  Create and maintain API usage policies. 

  • Thought leadership. Be change agents to help the organization adopt a good practice and standard in API Gateway -driven mindset. Take a pragmatic approach to the limitations and risks of API, Integration, and project a realistic picture in front of IT executives who provide overall digital thought leadership. 

  • Collaborative mindset. To ensure that Integration/API platforms deliver both business and technical requirements, seek to collaborate effectively with data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, ML engineers, other architects, business unit leaders and CxOs (technical and nontechnical personnel), and harmonize the relationships among them. 

EAIA/IT aligned Accountabilities: 

  • Deliver and manage Integration/API Architecture (EAIA), conceptual and logical models, for operational, master and API products including API models, Integration flows, master/reference data and metadata designs to meet one or more Business Capability requirements.   

  • Work with business leaders to evolve Integration and API designs to support business strategy. 

  • Own the Integration and API designs of one or more Business capability level Integration / API designs, especially major/complex Business Capability areas. 

  • Take on accountability for the Integration of major change programs impacting whole Business capability areas.  

  • Assure API change projects in that Business Capability are aligned to Integration/ API through either delivering API / Gateway blueprint artefacts or assessing designs from API Models /Solution Architects assigned to the project. 

  • Partner with the Data Offices to ensure data governance processes are enabled in all Integration and API designs and provide assurance evidence through standardized metrics: e.g., Master data consumption, data classification metadata application to support access processes. 

  • Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

Essential 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent number of years of experience in a Data Science or AI engineering or related field. 

  • Experience in leading and delivering enterprise Integration / API platform architectural thinking, and its practical application. 

  • Experience in the use of conceptual and logical data modelling technologies. 

  • Experience in defining and working with information and data regulatory governances. 

  • The role holder will possess a blend of data/information architecture, analysis, and engineering skills. 

  • Experience in known industry IT architectural patterns and IT architecture ways of working/methodologies (e.g. Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q and Sagemaker). 

  • Understands Integration / API Platforms concepts and cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environments. 

  • Understanding the appropriate Integration / API structure and technology based on business use case and completely familiar with Integration / API lifecycles.

  • Post-graduate degree in MIS, AI  

  •  Strong understanding of RESTful and SOAP APIs. 

  •  Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js. 

  •  Experience with API management tools like Apigee, Postman, or Swagger. 

  •  Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. 

  •  Familiarity with microservices architecture. 

  •  Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 

  •  Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. 

  •  Experience with API security protocols like OAuth, JWT, and SSL. 

  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. 

  •  Strong understanding of data formats like JSON and XML. 

  •  Experience with version control systems like Git. 

  •  Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. 

  •  Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. 

  •  Experience with performance tuning and optimization. 

  •  Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC). 

  •  Ability to mentor and guide junior developers. 

  •  Experience with API testing frameworks. 

  •  Knowledge of data protection regulations like GDPR.
