American National is looking to add a Data Architect to the team! You will be responsible for managing the organization’s data throughout its lifecycle, from collection to storage to analysis; this includes data model design, database development standards, data warehouse, Lakehouse, data analytics, data governance, quality, and security. The Data Architect will be responsible for modernizing the existing warehouse and BI systems as well as defining and implementing data standards, guidelines, and best practices, and collaborating with IT and business teams to design and review data architectures.

Your Impact:

•    Design and develop data strategy, guiding principles, and vision that is aligned with the organization’s business goals, objectives, and drivers. This includes understanding the business needs, challenges, and opportunities that can be addressed with data.
•    Develop a comprehensive roadmap that outlines the key initiatives, milestones, and timelines for implementing the data strategy, principles, and practices. 
•    Manage the full lifecycle of data, including data model design, database development standards, data warehouse, Lakehouse, data analytics, data governance, quality, and security.
•    Define and implement data standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure data quality and consistency across the organization. 
•    Design, implement, and manage data lake solutions that can store, catalog, and process large amounts of structured and unstructured data. Ensure data is readily accessible for analytics to support Business Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence applications. 
•    Develop strategies and implement tools to enable business stakeholders to retrieve data and intelligence in a timely and efficient manner. Provide guidance and support to business stakeholders to ensure they can effectively use the tools and data provided.
•    Ensure data security and compliance with applicable regulations, including access restrictions, encryption, and privacy laws.
•    Implement and manage data stewardship principles, ensuring data throughout the organization is accurate, available, and secure. 
•    Collaborate with Data and Information Security teams to develop and implement a data classification strategy that ensures data is categorized accurately, consistently, and in compliance with legal and business policies. 
•    Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures that ensure data integrity, quality, and compliance with legal and business standards. 

What You Will Need to be Successful in this Role:

•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
•    8+ years of experience in data architecture.
•    Proven experience with data lake technologies and modern warehousing.
•    Strong knowledge of analytics, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence platforms.
•    Understanding of cloud computing and data integration in a hybrid cloud environment.
•    Strong experience with DB2, SQL Server, PowerBI,  Cognos, and data lake technologies (eg. MS Fabric, SnowFlake, Databricks).
•    Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•    Professional certifications like CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), or similar are advantageous.
