Job Description

Experian is looking for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer with financial services experience, programming skills and Applied Machine Learning expertise to join their Experian Software Solutions Quantitative Analytics Team. In this role you will help lead the advancement of Experian Ascend, Experian’s latest industry disrupting innovation. This position will require you to design and collaborate with members across the Experian Software Solutions organization to deliver product innovations leveraging your unique knowledge and skill set in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in our Big Data Platform. You are required to use advanced programming and analytical skills to solve a variety of complex business problems across multiple industries and through all phases of the consumer credit lifecycle (prospecting, acquisition, portfolio management, and collections). Be ready to challenge yourself and like-minded professionals, to keep Experian on the leading edge of analytic innovation. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the directing of collaborative efforts between Engineering and the Quantitative Analytics teams in the design and implementation of Machine Learning and AI application in a true big data environment. 

  • Architect ML and AI solutions and assist in the agile management of projects to bring whiteboarding to reality. 

  • Mentor Machine Learning Engineer in the best practices of data science and machine learning to ensure successful career growth of your fellow Experian teammates. 

  • Lead efforts in the development of automation into the Experian process allowing for Scientists and Engineers to focus their attention on thought provoking innovative initiatives rather than redundant tasks. 

  • Research and integrate new data assets from disparate resources into Experian’s ML and AI platform. 

  • Produce implementation plans and testing to support the implementation of decision internal as well as external analytic tools. 

  • Bottom Line – Drive innovation in technology at Experian. 

Qualifications

Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field 

  • Minimum of 7 years of industry experience in machine learning and/or data science. 

  • Expert knowledge in machine learning algorithms and processes (such as xgboost, neural networks, hyperparameter tuning, clustering, graph algorithms) 

  • Experience in modern language models (e.g. Transformers) with a strong preference for use of generative AI models (GPT APIs, Fine Tunings, Reinforcement Learning) applied to code translation/generation, recommendation engines etc. 

  • Expert knowledge in Python (e.g., pandas, numpy, sklearn, pytorch), Pyspark and experience in large-scale data processing, distributed computing, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) 

  • Proven track record for leading and executing complex modeling/machine learning projects and new product development from concept to final delivery. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, independent analytical thinking, and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects of significant complexity.
